mostly the males will show their sex first, followed by the females a week later. I've read some people that don't find pre-flowers on their plants for at least two - three weeks after switching to 12/12, it could also depend on how long you vegged your plants for.

So yes, the longer it takes to find preflowers, the better chance you have of having a female, but remember not to count your chickens before they hatch. Look for pre-flowers on the highest set of nodes, that's usually where they first appear. Usually the first pistiles will come out, and they will actually turn brown and go back into the plant, however all the pistils after that will be white.

Good luck.

Preflowers always show sooner when the plant is growing vertical, not horizontal. LOL
Be patient, my ones I just finished, using MG showed about a month after putting outside into 13/11 sunlight.

View attachment 2430882will show in about two weeks if plant is mature if plant is not matured will have to mature first

even when peeps try to force a 12/12 plant is stressed into thinkin it is matured befor it sends out anything

like in old days when got married at thirteen an shit had to wait for girls to matur to have kids at 15 an 16 years

when plants go from side by side nodes to alternating nodes it is mature

You shouldn't do the flip till you get preflowers, that's when it is truly mature. The older a plant is before the flip, the bigger the yield.

I have also had plenty of late males show their sex last. Most people say it's usually a female, I say it's still 50/50. Males in general usually show sex first but not always.

preflowers typically show "before" you flower the plant or "pre" flowering, hence the name "preflowers". They typically show after 6 to 8 weeks in veg. As for when buds will start showing during flowering, it depends greatly on the amount of time you gave it in veg, assuming you are growing from seed, and weather the plant is male or female. Males typically begin to flower earlier than females, no idea why.

if the plant was veged to the point where it began alternating nodes it should show preflowers soon after, at which point it will begin to flower soon after the light period change. If it was not veged to that point it will likely take 1 to 2 weeks to begin flowering.
