When should I top this plant and how? Also, when do you think I can clone it? This little rascal is getting bushy already with little to no stretch. Any helpful comments appreciated guys. Thanks

yeah, i got plenty of height room. That is just an overhead ballast that is on chains and lowered down.

There is a sticky on this site that was written by Uncle Ben. His topping method; top after 5th, 6th or 7th true node..obviously not including the cotelydons. I think stoned cockatoo is probably spot on

you can top at almost any time...there is not a right time or wrong time ...one of the biggest plants i ever grew was a pineapple express that a rabbit chewed to a nub when it was smaller than that plant in the picture.i would top now so in a week those lower branches will be long and healthy and ready to clone...the earlier you clone the earlier you get those clones rooted and growing.

Then why did you say top it to some dude, then show a picture of an un topped plant, (as if to show what could happen if you top). Its just weird and seemed like you wanted to post that picture really bad regardless of thread topic. I think I saw you did that in a few other threads aswell. Like the dog shit thread. Do you really feed that exact plant dogshit too? Its a nice plant, dont get me wrong. Im just not sure putting up a picture when a dude is asking for help on topping, is more confusing then helpful.

I am watching more and more topping videos and I am looking at the ones where the plant is relative in size to mine and I can't ever see where exactly they are cutting. I want to clone this plant a few times so I really don't want to mess it up. I just can't see where they are cutting in these videos! Grrrr

If you just want to top the plant you really cant go wrong, I always count up to the 5th true node and cut there, however if I wanted to keep that cutting to make a clone I wait till the plant is 8 or 9 nodes tall, then just cut off at the 5th. The cut tip I then manicure into a nice piece for propagation. If you are REAAALLLLY not sure, take a picture open it in paint and draw and arrow on the plant where you were intending on cutting. If you posted that picture it would be really easy to tell if you have the right idea, The first plant I ever topped was on accident.. hope this helps man.

id pick those side lights up, you want the light hitting the top of your leaves, not under. side lighting is good but at this point i think you'll get better results setting them up higher til they gave bigger.

good luck

If you look in the picture, the top has a 4 bulb T5 ballast. That ballast is 54 watts per bulb & then I have the side lights as well.
