When to give nitrogen

Hey guys. Question on when to give nitrogen. So I'm on my second grow now. My last grow/first grow. I had a severe nitrogen toxicity in flowering now I'm afraid of giving grow big to my plants.. however I want them to flourish durin veg. I am about to transplant my month year olds from 1 gal ffof, into 7 gallon ffof then let them veg one more month then go into flower. However I know ffof has nitrogen in it.. so what's the rule of thumb with nitrogen. Do you just wait to see a deficiency until you give it more? Watch the leaves color? Thanks guys

FFOF can carry your grow for a long time. Budz has it right the only thing I would add is that you should still be amending with cal mag if you have RO water, and black strap molasses never hurts even in the first 6 weeks of flowering.
