When to harvest?

Folks,

I need some advice. This is my second grow. Today is the 74th day of flowering. The plants are in a phototron with 6 4000K flourescents and two SL-18 bulbs. I have been monitoring the trichomes with an electronic microscope. To date they remain clear. This suprises me a little cause I am part way through the 11th week of flowering, and I expected to see some change in the trich's color by now.

Unfortunately I don't know if indica or sativa. Maybe someone can tell from the pix? I am guess Sativa because 1. the fan leaves are huge 2. The high is couch potato - you're not getting up type of stuff and 3. the trichs are unchanged and from reading here I believe sativa takes longer to mature than indica.

That's total guesswork however. I don't know if the whole process is slowed down because I am not using HPS or MH lights. Does flowering take longer when using only flourescents? What's the longest you've let plants flower before harvesting? I'd appreciate any feedback you care to offer.

In the last pix you can see two fan leaves that have turned yellow and red. Is that fertilizer burn? I have been using Cha Ching every other feeding.

Getting near the end of this grow. Learned alot once again and look forward to experimenting with a new batch.

id probably say 2-3 weeks, you should start flushing now though, they looks like they have a bad nitrogen toxicity as well as other things.

Thanks for the feedback. Anyone else have an opinion on the reason for the "claw"? I had this on my first batch as well. I thought it was from over fertilizing so cut back on the fert for this second batch but still have the claw as you can see. If it is a watering issue, I will need to figure out something else. The phototron has an automatic watering system. I need to use it cause I can not always visit the plants everyday.

Thanks for the feedback!

One thing about growing.. you gotta make several visits a day, and monitor things constantly, or else your gonna have problems.

Would you let a 3 year old roam around your house without your supervision?

So Mygirls, I take it my shade leaves should turn yellow before harvest? Some of them? Most of them? All of them? And will this only happen during flushing? I assume they won't yellow as long as they're getting nitrogen?

Thanks!

shade leaves are not turning yellow because im guessing from the looks of it you have not cut back on the furt. also loos like theres an overwatering issue. dont wait any longer....... go get a flushing agent. flush the plants and then continue with water (no furt) for the next 3 to 5 days. the plants will stop nutrient uptake and use the nutrients built up in the foliage which will cause yellowing. the best way to tell ripeness is by goig to your local radio shack and buying a stamp magifying glass with built in light to check the color and condition of your resin glands. it looks like its going to be a late harvest for you which will enhance a couch high. whatever you do. do NOT pull them with out atleast 3 days of flushing. the longer the flush the better flavor and aroma youll have when done........good luck
