When to harvest?

Im 5 weeks into flowering on my first grow and have every intention to let them go for another 4 weeks.

My question is:

A.) if you are supposed to cut all nutrients 2 weeks out from harvest...
B.)you're supposed to harvest when trichomes are 90% milky 10% amber

How the hell am i supposed to project when to stop adding nutrients? As it stands im just going to cut nutrients in 2 weeks and pray im on the right track, but id hate to get to 9 weeks and feel like i should let it go for 11... Then i feel like ive wasted valuable time to really let my roots soak the good stuff up.

So when do i cut nutes?

Forgot to mention... Im growing 2 blue widow plants. And i ordered a 40x jewlers loupe, but winter storm jones has put a massive slowdown on the shipping process.

I'm not into nutes but some folks swear by the "flush" method, others don't.

If I were you I'd "sacrifice" 1 of those plants to flushing and let the other grow out as narmal and see which one you like best. There's no 1 size-fits-all solution to this topic, it boils down to preference.

Best of luck to you and welcome to RIU!

If your growing in soil you don't cut the nutes and you don't need to flush.

You never need to flush soil unless you have slammed them with nutes. Also don't do this nonsense that some people do and get 10% run off. That's not needed either (just in case you are)

Thank you for the information. It definitely helps put my mind at ease. Caring for these girls for 10 weeks already, id hate to lose even more due to even more newbie blunders.

Its funny how I started all of this thinking i had a firm grasp of knowledge and could have a successful grow. Now here i am, still feeling like i need more and more stuff and knowledge to make my grow successful.

I'm hoping the last thing i need is a humidifier to raise my R.H. (currently around 25%)

I've been growing successfully for quite a few years and I have never flushed but then again that's just the way I do, it. Happy growing and soon for you comes the bet part enjoying the fine smoke you have grown.

With all the different advice on when to harvest i think the best way is to sacrifice a couple of plants and just harvest at different stages to get an idea on how you like it.

On my last grow (my first) I had 4 plants and harvested at different stages (5-10% cloudy, 75%+ cloudy, 90% cloudy, 10-20% amber, beyond harvest window chopped at first sign of nanners) I found the last 2 were what I wanted.

Now I have an Idea how I want my next product to be may need tweaking but still a good barometer.

I chopped two of my lower branches over the weekend and dried them to smoke yesterday.the head high was great and left me feeling very productive whilst still in a solid haze.

With very shakey hands and more ignorance than i like to admit, i ask... How do these look?
