When to switch to 12/12

Here's a question that definately fits the heading "Newbie." I've got five Jock Horror (Nirvana strain) doing nicely. They've been on 18 hours of a 400 watt metal halide. They went into the soil on Dec. 1, and are now just about a foot tall. When do I switch to 12/12 and prove these chicks dig me?

How big do you want them to get? If they can grow pretty tall, then let them veg for 1-2 months before flowering.

How big? Colossal will do. I'll let them go for a bit. Thanks

I Would Keep Them Under A Light For 24 Hrs (24/0)... My Plants Always Grew Bigger Much Faster That Way Rather Then 18/0.

I USUALLY FLOWER ONCE MY PLANT HAS SHOWN ITS SEX, BUT IF YOU WANT A BIGGER YEILD YOU CAN KEEP YOUR FLOWER IN VEG FOR AS LONG AS YOU WISH BUT REMEMBER SPACE IS A FACTOR BECAUSE ONCE YOU FLOWER, SUM PLANTS CAN GROW UP TO DOUBLE THERE "VEG" SIZE.

From seed you have to be 5 nodes tall at least.You figure it by how much height you have as an indica strain will double in height when it goes into flower and a sativa will triple to quadruple in height so a 12 inch indica will finishe around 2-3 feet and a 12 inch sativa will finish 3-4 feet when flowered.So you take that figure and deduct it from the height of your grow area minus the light hanging distance

A plant wont show sex until it flowers so not sure how to wait for sex to show if your vegging?? I also do 24 hours on veg and then when you go 12/12 in 7-10 days they show sex usually sometimes can be longer or shorter

Well FILTHY fletch, If you MUST know, I USE A TECHNIQUE WHERE YOU GET A SANDWICH BAG, SPRAY IT WITH BLACK SPRAY PAINT AND COVER A BRANCH ON THE 4TH-5TH NODE AND VIOLA!! YOU WILL TELL ITS SEX IN ABOUT A WEEK TO 10 DAYS.... BUT MAKE SURE THE BAG IS TOTALLY DARK.. NO LIGHT CAN ENTER.

Ahh so you early sex you plant.That I do my self but you are 12/12 or 24 hour darking a branch to se it early.I just pop a clone from my vegging plant and get it rooted in about 3-5 days then toss it into 12/12 for couple days and if the clone is female so is the plant it came from.I had thought you were saying you can sex a plant without the dark inducement.

I usually put them into flower when the nodes start to offset. What I mean is when one side of the node is higher up the plant then the one on the other side.

I KEEP IT 12/12 WHEN I EARLY SEX MY PLANT. I WOULD MUCH RATHER DO IT YOUR WAY, SEEMS QUITE EASIER AND MUCH FASTER, BUT HONESTLY I DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT CLONING!..

Give cloning a try its really simple.Just get a clean razor some cloning powder from any hardware or hydro store.Cut a branch end at least 2-3 inches long.Cut the end at a 45 degree angle leave about 4 main leaves for food on top and plop it into a soaked 2 inch rockwool cube and place it in a humidity dome with a florescent light on it.Mist once daily and in 3-10 days roots pop out

I think they probably call it Rooting powder at the hardware store. Try that if they look at like u just grew a second head when u use the word "cloning".
