When to up nutes.

what is a good rule to follow or how do you tell when your plants need more nutes?
i have some plants 1 month in veg and they are at 350ppm at res change and after about a day it dropped to about 300ppm, does this mean i should maybe add more nutes next time? sorry for the noob question, this is my first grow and havent got this part down completely yet. i have a schedule im following but i just want to know how you decide when to up your nutes. thanks.

be careful u can always give your plants to much nutrients if they are doing good and nice in green leave them be

thanks, i learned that from experience and burned them awhile back lol.
