When I top my plant do I cut it right at the top node? Also how many times can you top a plant? I want to get as many colas as possible

u can top as many times as u want (although u'll get more colas, they will most likely be smaller) as a strain has only a maximum threshold of yield, and u can top in many places, determined by ur cut, (to create say 2 main or 4 main colas). Check out this thread within RIU, u'll be glad u did.

cut it right at the top but the whole top, so that you just see 2 new sets right below and a tiny stem ontop. you can top alot but too much will stress it

Really, that depends on what you're trying to do. If you're going for Uncle Ben's 4-Cola Topping Technique (Look at me, I already memorized the title of that thread!) then yeah, you can top for just 2-4 colas. I pretty much always do Uncle Ben's technique. Pay attention to what is mentioned about the seed branches, they're always small and puny, they won't make big colas like the first true node does.

However, if you want a bushy girl, with lots of bud sites, you can keep on topping each branch as they grow out. A good idea when doing it this way is to trim away any branches that get long and stretchy above at least one node so that they become at least two more branches. This will keep your girl nice and short while multiplying your bud sites.

When you're getting near ready to flower, try not to touch your girl for a week or two. This will make sure she is fully recovered from the stress of topping and can devote all her energy towards making flowers ASAP.

Thank you, I think I am going to LST the plants as well. When is the best time to Top the plant? I still have quite some time until I get into the flowering stage since I'm not suppose to harvest until september/october.

top them asap when the plant has 3 nodes then top it below the second node
Yep, ASAP.

When you get really good at topping, it's called pinching cus they're just so soft they come right off with your fingers. Trick is to be there just in time to pinch exactly that node you were expecting. ;-)
