Hi Everyone ... Before I start, may i say this site has been inspirational and help me so much since I've started my adventure (14thJan),

Pictures attached are of 10x PPP (large) & 9x Snow White little babies, under 400 HPS and 2 X 600 HPS for flowering which commences this Sunday all going to plan ........
My intention is to take some cutting but not exactly sure which is better, i.e from the Top or Bottom node,

Any suggestions or advise very much welcomed, I've marked one picture (A & B) this is where i'm intending to cut, WHich should I cut from????

well.. what i did was when my plants had five nodes i topped them at the 3rd node.. i didnt want to waste the tops so i put them in rooting powder and cloned them ( check MY GROW for pics/details ) ,,, everybody says its too early but look at my first ever clone.. its as tall as its mother 11 days after rooting!

also, taking this clone at the place where i did ( where u marked A ) made them bush out like crazy!! with a little bit of low stress training i now have 9 tops as opposed to the one i cut. hope this helps

(after topping/cloning)

Hi dertmagert.. you've ignited my willness to give it a go, I may as well attempt 2 plants and guage the results,
Although, were it says A, this area is actually quite small in lenght, very little to cut ... did you have the same issue?
Your plant looks very healthy .. give up the good work!!

yes i did.. just make sure u leave about three sets of leaves.. the first two will be tight together ( new growth shoots ) and the third set will be more developed and relaxed... the third set is where u want to make a cut.. just below the 3rd set.. then u trim of the 3rd set of leaves and scar the stem ( cut a little of the "bark" off . this is where the roots will be developing)... place it in some water while u prepare your medium.. then roll it in some rooting powder or gel and place it in the medium... give it a bit of a mist and your good to go

i just looked again at the picture.. what u want to do is cut below that set up leaves that has the Line running threw it with the A on the end of it.. keep that set intact... cut it just above the next set of leaves below it then scar it and you should end up with a healthy clone and a topped/bushy plant.. good luck

excellent, The lighting is due to go back at mid-night so I shall give it a go, once there up and awake. Did you have any shock probelms afterwards?

Q....How about if i cut from the bottom stems, they seem really strong in that area , plus i don't have height issues so would preferr taller babes if possible? would this not be advisible to go from?? Area B in my picture

well.. it depends on what your ideal plant is structured like. Mine is a fat bushy fucker with lots of colas.. if you like to have one huge "donkey dick" then so be it. as far as taking clones from lower branches, you will of course be using a weaker part of the plant. Not to say that this is going to stop it from growing. It is VERY advisable to use them if you wish to maintain an un-topped plant. however, in my situation i just killed 2 birds with one stone. Topped/cloned in one shot.

As long as your cutting is 2-3 inches and has a couple leaf sets above your cut, you should be fine! make sure not to give them TOO MUCH light.. they will start to grow more leaf than roots ( not what u want ) ... keep them humid and in about a week youll have roots..

as far as shock.. you will experience less shock if u cut from the lower branches as this is not a very active shoot.. if u top the plant u will endure some shock because it is THE active growing shoot.. but this bit of shock just makes the plant grow fatter and bushier.. a more than fair trade if u ask me

the reason i ask about shock is, I plan to switch over this weekend and therefore they won't have time to recover before flowering,

the cutting will go under the 400HPS, is this too much for them?

hell no... your good to go.. make those cuts at the bottom like u want and throw them under the 400!!! i would wait a little longer if u say that height is no problem.. but if u want to flower now, Make the cuts, flower them, then if u find a male, toss it AND the clone u cut from it ( so be sure to mark them )

then when u know you have a female keep that clone as your mother... never flower her.. just keep her growing under some CFLs so u can have many many more just like her

there all feminized, both types ;-) this does guarantee all females correct?

I want to kick them into flower as I hope to have many coming up behind them.. SOG

OHHHH... Femmed seeds... sorry.. ive been bouncing in and out of threads.. might have got u crossed with someone else... well yeah, fem seeds do produce females... ive heard of a few Hermies here and there but u should get what u ordered.. *Note.. ive heard rumors that you cant clone a plant that comes from femmed seed /// but again, to the naysayers, check MY GROW for exactly what they say isnt possible///

two words.. WASHING MACHINE.. lol
