which brand of soil from lowes or depot

I apologize for not reading this entire thread, but it had a map for crying out loud!
There is no soil worth buying at Lowe's or Home Depot. I've scoured them.
I can speak only for the US mid Atlantic where we have access to Coast of Maine products. They make Lobster compost, Bumper Crop, and Gardner's Gold, all of which crush home center soil. Expect to spend near $20 for 2 cubic feet. Mix 1:1 with perlite for a superior mix. Supplement with Dyna-gro, Epsom salts, silicone, carbs (molasses, maple syrup, orange juice, beer, etc, etc).

Find your own local source of no nonsense, no pretense, quality soil enhancements. Avoid cannabis specific products because they're all bullshit. Remember that whether you start with a fish, vegetables, or urea, it all biodegrades to ammonium nitrate. And because plants don't have digestive systems like humans, they uptake only the end chemical nutrient, without regard for its source. Organic plant food doesn't help produce more, or better, or better tasting bud. It just costs more.

This is the first for the HGNW version.....I got beans from Subtools time with it....I'm told the difference is huge and I'll be giving away the Tool's version...

Last year I grew some Chemdogs side by side in buckets one with bottled nutrients and one with an organic crumble. The differences are vast. I supplied both without an indication and hands down including me, organic for the win. I'll never use straight bottled basal nutes again for anything indoors.

I did some hybrid versions too with octopots and thought the results were great but things went wonky a few times and I stopped. I never experienced wonky with rabbit, worm, llama, goat shit, or Organicare crumbles. I still be using the poop but I just coudnt get over handling raw fresh shit in my medical garden every day. The composted balanced mix is a win for me for me. I first used in in pro mix in 2008, used my experience to finally break away from my hydro romance.

I've found some stuff at walmart, I've also seen it at lowes and homedepot. Its called organics and its pre-made with worm castings in it. I picked up a couple bags for around $4 each. I'm letting the run for a season in my standard garden first before I re-use for another run. The stuff feels and smells great....

I just grew out some querkle
its a low yielding plant, but the buds are as hard as a rock and it is potent enough
I really enjoyed the smoke, although it turns purple hues it doesn't taste like it looks,
don't get me wrong it tasted great and it was very dank, it just didn't taste purple, more like lime

I don't think ill end up keeping it around cuz of its below average yield
I don't mind an average yielder but I wont keep a below average plant around for long

years ago (maybe 7) I grew the jack the ripper
it was super lemon pinesol and very very good yielder
buds not real dense but not what id call airy

that's all ive tried for there gear

right now im most impressed with a stand alone phenol from a pack of 6

DNA lemon kush

5 of the 6 phenol weren't something I would keep around

all great yielders and potent but most of them airy/sponge

I got one plant that was different from all the others and looked more kush

rock hard buds nice earthy kush flavor with a bite of sweet lemon undertones
buds look like golf balls
its got just enough spacing between the buds to fill in the stem but not so tightly packed to cause PM issue
easy to trim almost all bud
its a little stretchy but in a good way with few leaves as it lets light in to develop the lower buds also

I also grew there og18 and sour kush

the og18 is great to smoke taste amazing and is strong couch lock
it not a huge yielder but it does put out quality nugs
some pheno better than others...if I grew it out from seed again id be looking for that 1 diamond in the rough so I might need a few packs to find her

og18 is the parent to the lemon kush and the pheno#5 of LK I kept looks and smells more like the og18 parent but with much better structure and yields

the sour kush
the buds are medium density
the odor is much less than the lemon kush or the og18, it smells just like its name, sour

excellent smoke just as good as the others just not as dense or stinky
its strong and its a great yielder
whats most notable about it is that out of 6 seeds I got 6 stellar plants that all yielded extremely well

next round from seed

Ghost "cut" OG = one of my all time favorites! Great "Cutter"! Head spinning soaring high with the Indica side being in the background and not very "couchlocky" at all....Smoke enough and the buzz comes in waves (and that's not much)..... You find yourself saying "I'm so fucking "high" - a lot....Smoke later in the day and it "cuts" through anything else you've smoked as it's effects take over and dominate the game......

I got an unknown strain that was taken "prisoner" in Iraq by an officer friend in the Military. In action, a wall was knocked down and a back yard full of lovely Plants came into view..(Hash makers house)...The house was paid a visit and beans were procured (peacefully as a gift).....They came home.... I was given them...

I don't know what the strain it is but, it does appear to be a cross....Stupid heavy trich producer. Long lasting buzz - kind of Ex Cheese like on that......stinks bad growing.....About 2 weeks from popping a cpl. for a project...

Remind me and I'll shoot pics of it growing...

3 cups organic fertilizer - Tomato tone or FF tomato would be best here.
4 cups kelp meal
8 cups granit rock dust
1 cup crab meal

1 cup egg shell - really pulverize it! blender - food proc. - coffee grinder
let it cook 4 weeks min

That's how I would try the first run.....




Mix it in the new soil used to transplant into - first....You won't need to "cook" that.



Kelp contains natural forms of exactly that! High Amino's and other plant proteins......



You mentioned Cal Nitrate = That will raise your "delivered" N level by about 2 % (2-0-0) when you use it! Careful there...

Cal carbonate is better when you don't want that N..

since im working with ocean frog soil

so ive got 4 - 5 gallon root balls of ocean frog = 20 gallons

Im going to toss them into a barrel break up the root balls and I plan to let it sit for 4+weeks

what would you recommend I use to amend it for the next use?

would I go ahead and treat it with granite rock dust 1x (how much) since its not list part of the original amendment?
(it appears they use bat guano)

at what ratio do I cut the EWC perlite and manure to soil
and how much of each?

so the more I learn the more I realize I dotn know shit about organic gardening lol

so im just rapping my head around

ocean frog soil isn't soil
its a soilless mix

so im confusing what is two different mediums...thus confusing how I might amend one differently from another

also im wonder the advantage or disadvantage to using peat moss as soiless potting mix vs true soil

If the run with it was successful = You had no problems. You added no Ca/Mg to feeds and only used 100% organic feeds...

You could recharge that soil, kinda hard to figure for it as I don't really know what was in it to start.

Personally, I would pitch that soil and only recharge what I made from scratch.....
You would as a basic guideline.
Add back 1 part EWC and Compost to 4 parts old soil
Add back 1/2 the perlite you did in the building of the soil.
Add back 1/3 to 1/2 cup of the dry fert mix to each cubic ft
Add back 1/4-1/3 cup liming agent per cubic ft

Extra amendments: You added Kelp, Crab meal and Alfalfa meal..

Mix together, one part crab and one part alfalfa meal and two parts kelp meal. (Like 1 cup crab and Alfalfa with 2 cups of kelp - mix well)
Take 1 to 1/2 cups of that mix and add it to the soil.....cook 2-4 weeks - longer the better...

FF products are "soil" FFOF, HF, etc.
The list of everything you want to use to make a soil - makes a soil! Peat based soil...it works better.


Pro mix is not a "soil"
Sunshine mix #4 is not a "soil"

it has plenty of N,P,K for 4 to 5 weeks without repotting

the list of ingredients are very close to what you recommend
except they add bat guano and fish emulsion
