Which bulb with ballast

Probably a simple question but I just wanted to make sure. I have a 750 dimmable phantom ballast. I can use a 600 bulb on the 60% power setting correct?
Edited to add, can I use it at 100% which would be the full 750 I assume? Im not understanding why they make 750w ballast but only 600w -1000w bulbs. Is the extra 150w used only for the firing of the HPS bulb? I know this is probably a simple answer, it's been a long week already lol.

No, do not use a different wattage bulb... They certainly do make 750 watt hps and mh bulbs..

So I can't use an eye hortilux 600 watt bulb with the ballast dimmed down to 75%? Also, could you link me to some recommended 750watt bulbs? :)
You need a dial a watt model.

Wrong lamp and power cord melts. I have a closet full of dead Ballasts.

But you can dim down a 1000 watt bulb with that ballast. It just changes the spectrum for the worse a bit.

I use galaxy select a watt ballasts. 600/400 watt. I can dim or use different bulbs. They make a 1000/600 too.
