Which digital ballast should i buy?

I've been growing with 2 150 watt magnetic hps lamps and finally saved the money to buy myself a 1000 watt digital lamp. I've read tons of crap online about the different manufacturers like Galaxy, Lumatek, Nex Gen, etc. Which one should I buy? I read stuff about ballast blowing bulbs sometimes and a couple other problems. Can anyone give me some feedback on this and let me know which one I should buy? TY!

i personally like using magnetic due to all the horror stories i hear about digi's

also my century grow systems 600w magnetic hps ballast is guaranteed for 25yrs lol

digi's only 5yrs if your lucky.

if i was going to get any digi ballast it would probably be the lumatek dimmable 600w for a little extra help on the warmer days just knock it down to 400w.


i remember reading about one called the TECHONE DIMMABLE cant remember if it was lumatek or not but you could use a 600w lamp and safely dim that down by 75% and 50% without changing lamps and it also reduced the amount of watts it used too .

I really want to get a 1000 watter just so I never find myself coming up short if I want to grow several plants. They all say that the digi's are suposed to be way better and a lot more efficient. I've read a lot of stuff on this site where the guys were saying that they could definately tell that thier bulbs were brighter in the digi than in the magnetic. do you know how many amps a 1000 watt magnetic ballast pulls? The digis are like 2.8. I just don't wanna make a mistake and pay a lot for a crappy product. I have only been growing for a year and a half so I'm still learning a lot. I gotta buy something though.

the thing with digi's and magnetics is kind of like this

600w mag ballast pulls 630w of electricity but only delivers around 570w to the bulb

600w digi ballast will pull 630w and delivers 600w to the bulb

fewer watts wasted = more watts to lamp
