Which grow box to buy?

What up farmers! Posted this under the micro/stealth area, but haven't gotten any response yet so thought I'd try it here. Tryin to figure out which grow box is best for me...must be stealth, but needs to put out some weight too. Thinkin about buying this one;

Grow Box from a co called Universal Hydro (ever heard of them?). Looks legit...talked to them and they seem to know their shit. It's a soil system. has a few things that others didn't that are pretty attractive. There are a couple journals with these things that claim to have done well.

Then there's this Grow Box from a co called Super Closet. Looks like a bigger company with a lot more products. It's hydro, which is a little more intimidating for me, but I'm willing to try. It's cheaper until you upgrade to a 600w, then the price is basically identical. Feeding system looks pretty cool, but not sure if it will make that much of a difference.

I'm leaning towards the soil one because its a little bigger (4'x2' vs 3'x2') and seems like better quality, but don't want to blow $2k...HELP ME DECIDE PLEASE

No, I'm not building my own...no tools, no place to build, no skills, and too lazy (if i'm gonna be honest).

If it's the whole package 2k is reasonable for a decent setup. I would definately go soil for your first few grows, yes hydro can be easy but soil is more forgiving. Get GOOD soil, spend the money on high quality NON fertilized free draining soil, DO IT . The reason for this will become very clear right through out the grow.

Try not to think about how much you can grow but the quality of the grow. The yeilds will come after a few succesful grows. You are gonna love growing, with patience ;-)

The best grow box in the world (winner of 2012 Grow Box of the Year) is the Stanley 336 Hydro... check em out at actechwi.com

Holy shit these are a rip off... 2k for something easily built for less than a grand. I need to get in on this business...

If I had to pick, I'd go with the first one. Looks like it's build better. Whatever you do don't get the LED option either, those panels are terrible.

I really think you should get into grow room design and build, If nothing else you would learn how hard it is to run a business and as to why people charge what they do. There are a lot of people who don't have the time, skill or patience to do what you say you can do. I'm pretty handy, but I still pay proffessionals to do things for the above reasons, including, I can't be bothered!

I also presume you have done several LED grows, how else would you know they are terrible? I've never done one but I have seen some pictures of great results in compact places. I'd like to try it but due to my circumstances I can get away with HPS and see no reason to change.

Sorry for hating

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it! I think I am going to go soil. Would you say Fox Farm Ocean Forest is a good soil? That's what comes with the Earth Cab XL. If not, which would you recommend?

Thanks for your input. I can't build one, nor would I even try. I'm assuming that I'm going to end up paying more than cost of the parts for someone to build a grow box for me. Unless you know someone that can build it for free ;) I found someone else around here that is using those same LED's and looks to be working pretty well. Not like they're getting fat nuggs off it, but maybe worth it. I'm not going to buy that option though, spending enough money to get started already.

Well said! Thanks again for the input. I don't think you were hating, I think trevronious was.

BUILD IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! much better. Dude you are going to need to spend soooooooooo much money for the rest of the equiptment to fill that grow box, try to find somthing you already have thats a good size or build a ply wood box that opens from the front, line it with mylar, put some fans and a light in there and your ready to go.
I appreciate the feedback, but like I said, I can't (literally) build one. What equipment are you referring to that I would need to fill it out the box? I think I'm going with the Earth Cab XL...looks like it comes with a bunch of stuff, but I'm new so I could be overlooking something.

I'm not sure on the fox farm soil, we don't have that in New Zealand. Would you be interested in mixing your own soil? It's been a while since I've had to do it myself so it will take a bit of thinking to rack by brain as to the quantities of each part. From memory it involves mixing peat (soaked in water to expand), perlite, top soil and worm castings. I can sort the messuring's for you if those ingredients are available and your willing :weed:

I use a product called terrazilla, its a Buddzilla branded product, totally awesome out of the bag. It is totally illegal to growhere but the law is pretty lax so we have access to some great product. Lucky us, we live in gods own

Dude, dont even mess around, check this box out! 100% odor control, whisper quiet and leaks no light, I love mine!!!! http://www.actechwi.com/Hydroponic-Grow-Cabinet-p/stn336.htm
To be honest mate, this looks pretty damn good, especially if there is no light leaks, thats a huge problem for most cabinets. No light leaks = no smell :-P I was really keen on getting something similar myself except it was 5k and leaked light in every direction. I would definately go for something with good height (minimum 5 foot for 400-600w), it will help greatly with heat issues.

No offense, but that thing looks like what I would end up with if I tried to build one myself...and I have no skills. Which is why I'm buying one off the shelf. Glad to hear you like yours though.
No offense taken as it is obvious you were not able to devote the time to review the website...
