Which is best bulb cfl's or tube fluorescents

I'm in my second grow and have been using 4 bulb type cfl's for vegging. I want to get better lighting. Are tube style fluorescents better? If yes then which watt should I get. I will be shopping at home depot.

get the 42watt long ones, they work better than the shorter more compact ones.
well they are if your going to wallmart/or b&q os somthing.
get clear or cool/daylite.
blue spec.for vegg.
red for 12/12.
are you going to get some proper lites for 12/12.
if i was you id get a 250 hps, and that will do for both 12/12 and vegg.
but if not get some 40 plus watts, the longer ones.
thats what i find best from the store.
they say t5's are also good.
but dont know if wallmart sell?.

hey crazy-mental.i have a similar setup for veg.2 40watt long fl cool and 3cfl daylight. i bought a 1000watt hp for flowering, now im thinking twice of using it bcuz of the eletricid bill. i only want 4pant max, cant i use a 400watt bulb and put it on my sunmaster 1000ballast. or do i have 2buy a 400watt or smaller system

for 4 plants you should have just got a 250 hps.
, get one, and save your 1000 till your more exp.
how come you got a 1000 hps?.

for the 1000 you would be able to grow 12 to 15 plants, but thats a lot, if its your first time.
what id do is.
get a 250 hps, or 400.
keep your flos, for seedlings, and start a plant every 2 weeks into flower., so you have a harvest every 2 weeks, and what you learn in your first plant, you can pass the knowlage to the next plant, you start 2 week later.
i have flos like yours, and i vegg for 4 to 5 weeks, with no probs.
so if you vegg under the flos, and put a plant into 12/12 every 2 weeks, you will have weed, every 2 week, like 1 or 2 oz a week,depending on how and how many you do.
depending on if you use a 400hps,6 plants or 250hps 4 plants,more if the plants are smaller.
thats got to be better than waiting 4 to 5 mounths for just 4 plants to finish,. do you get me. p.m me if you need any help.

I already have a 400w hps for flowering. I just needed something better than the 4 cfl bulb's I was using. Thanks for the help. Anymore will still be helpful.

I use MH for veg. I know you want to save money on your electric bill and what not but if I were you I would take back the 1000 watt and get 1 400 watt HPS and a 400 watt MH. They make 2 in 1 ballasts that do both MH and HPS and I have one of these but I always have something flowering so I can't use the MH very often. I put the MH in one day a week to give the plants more UVB rays.

cfls are t-3's, i beleive, and blinding so i would imagin a high watt cfl, like at least 42 watts would prime for vegging. The higher the watt the better, the more penetrating ability, coverage and less of those damn sockets you have to wire up yourself.

Have you considered MH?

Thank crazy mental.... Right now i just want to learn with 4 plants or less, but when i get more exp i wat to do more than 10 plants. I order sweet purple from dr chronic so i got 2 wait on that. i got the hp from a garage sale for 50buck with a blower.(lucky me)..
so wat u telling me is i need to buy a 400watt hp (bulb& ballast) or buy a 400watt bulb and u the ballast that i bought in the garage sale , feel me

You could also get a conversion bulb for your hps.

But The Conversion Bulb Is To Replace The Mh To Hp. I Want To Convert The Wattage.. Like 1000 To 400 Lol. So I Think Im Going To Buy A Ballast And Use The Reflector .. Wat U Guys Think
