Which light to use.......

Hi all I'm interested in all your views with regards to which light pattern to use with big busy sativa plants.

Room size is 2.1x1.5x1.5m high
2 plants that are 4 feet tall in there new pots and still in veg but are very dense and bushy.

Was wondering if 2 600 vert bulbs on top of each other might penetrate the canopys better than 2 600 bulbs horizontal in reflectors.

If verts the better way the pots would be rotated ever 24hrs for even light distribution.

Your thoughts would be great.

Cheers

i wouldn't hang them vertically. vertical setups are more efficient for multiple plants. you only have 2 plants. if they are 4' in veg then they are really gonna get big. maybe 8' in flower. where are you going to fit them in a room that is only 5' high? are you going to SCROG? am i missing something here?

Hi nuglets thanks for your reply. I got the height of the room wrong it's 1.8m 6ft and the plants are 4ft high inc the pots.

I plan to top them to keep the height down but what I've found with vert setups is it stunts the plants so they grow bushy rather than stretching as much. The last grow worked well with 2 600 hps hanging vert so thought I'd try it with these 2 larger plants.

hey bud, sounds like you have experience with vertical setups. i have never tried it before. i was gonna say that even with 6' ceilings you probably would have to train your plants down. something like LST or Supercropping cause topping isn't going to do enough. if your plants are say 3' tall (not including the pot) then does vertical lighting keep them from doubling in size? i wasn't aware that vertical had that advantage. that's pretty cool to know. i think horizontal lighting is out of the question. by the time you hung hoods in the room your plants would already be touching the glass. also, you want to top or lst while they are still in veg so you better get started. you shouldn't train flowering plants. you can tie them down if need be but that's about it.

Well thought about trimming some small branches and leafs wile there in veg as like I said there a bit dense with leafs at the moment. Then thought about topping them just to lower the height.

What I've found is that side lighting I.e vert seems to slow down the stretch and gets the lower arms up around the plants which cuts down on the popcorn.

So it looks like I've made my decision..........vert it's gonna be with additional cfl side lighting.

Rock on.

Cheers
