Which Soil To Choose?

I'm growing some auto-flowers outside and I was wondering I'm wondering which potting soil to purchase. I've bought some peat cups to germinate my seeds in and was wondering which potting soil I should fill the cup with for best chances of germinating. I was think fox farm ocean forest, but I've heard mixed reviews. Then I'd drop the cups into holes filled with potting soil because the cups will degrade into the soil, and was wondering which soil to fill the holes with. Again I was think FFOF, but there are so many different opinions, good and bad, for the potting soil. So which soil should I choose? Thanks

Start off using a sterile potting mix made for seedlings. There are a lot of choices out there but my favorites in order of cheap to pricey are: Miracle Gro Seed Starting Mix, Fox Farm Light Warrior, or pure Coco Coir mixed with 10% worm castings (NPK 1-1-1). Once the plants are mature (3-4 weeks), you can transplant them into a richer potting mix like Kellogg Patio Plus, Ocean Forest, Roots Organic, etc.

What nutes are you using? only reason to use soil is if you are going organic. If you're using chem nutes, the soil is just a medium, so I'd recommend a soilless medium like 100% perlite.

I don't like peat anything cause it seems to drop the pH. That's the main benefit of Rapid Rooters over Jiffy pots IMO, but best is to just start seeds in a beer cup if soil/soilless mix

The OP mentioned he was going to be growing outside. IMO it's be dumb to spend $100-$300 on synthetic nutrients like AN, GH, FF, etc. You'd have to feed them weekly and a lot of the nutrients will drain past the root zone. Its extremely wasteful and a very expensive way to grow. Going organic is just a smarter choice all around. It's cost you around $20-$40 bucks for fertilizer, insecticides, and soil test kits. For mold and fungus, just spray a solution of water & milk (9:1 ratio). Cheap potent meds, what could be better then that?
