anyone have a view on exchanging the 200w for a lesser powered cfl ?? as i would really like to do it tomorrow. is it too early to put them under the 400watt hps ??
today i changed the 200w cfl for a 125w.

about to replant the jiffy cubes into 8" pots. any tips on replanting ?? do you water the soil before you put the jiffy in or after ?? do you need to use any fertilizers ?? as i was planning on just using rain water and then starting them on the nutes in a few days when they have recovered a bit.

Hey there. Sorry I couldn't help on the CFL issue, but I use 27w and didn't wanna steer you wrong there. If you're just planting the whole cube, then water after. No nutes for your babies, until they are at least three weeks old.:leaf:

For future reference, Illegal Smile doesn't do soil, but has a good working knowledge of higher watt CFL's.

I have two homemade racks I use, each with a dozen 27w CFL's - 648w total. Reflectors made from cardboard and wrapped in e-blanket. Usually I put six plants total under those, in three gallon buckets - but the grow I just started yesterday, I'm gonna try to put twelve under, in one gallon containers, and transplant them into their three gallon buckets right before flower.

that home made rack is rather impressive :bigjoint: i wish i had put some thought into a homemade setup then just buying everything from the growshop.

they have been under the 125w light in 8" pots now for 5 days now and have started looking much healthier.

although today i noticed that the healthiest looking seedlings leaf tips had started to go a brownish/purply color. it looks as if the ph problem is still a showing with this plant. please check out the pictures below, the first was taken yesterday ( showed no signs ) and the rest were taken today. i have been only watering with ph adjusted rainwater. any ideas ??

also im having a great deal of trouble using the ph down solution. the rain water ph is usually 7.2, adding not even half a drop takes it down to 3.4 !! when i pour this water out and try again the ph of the rain water is 6.5 ( i guess from the left over water ). but this is not the best way to get the water ph correct !! what to you guys use to apply the ph solution to the water ??

You might want to gather those pics and post over in the Plant Problem section, someone should be able to help you.

well my friend ive read ur post and checked ur pics ect. First of all - im growing white rhino and have 3 babies on the go at the minute - there currently 2 weeks old to this day and there growing well. I would say your plants look good but lights have to be 2/3'' away from tops of plants - the leaf problem looks likem its summit to do with nitrogen aspect but im not too sure specifically - jus off what ive read - im changing my plants from 4 '' pots tomoz into bvigger 3 gallon pots - the grow has been well and i jus use water from tap left for 24 hours - im using a 150 Watt Flu put them bout 2 '' away for first 12 days then i've moved them up a bit jus for the growing ways of my plant - check my plants out i have a post - they look the same as ur plants tho so dont stress - i'd check the internet for a more specific problem of the dis-colouration of ur plants but other than that - keep going and soon u'll be in flowering!

Hey bro, just took some time reading most of this, however I did see one post saying you were watering with rain water. This can cause PH issues.

Don't know if you're still doing that, just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

Peace.

Well, depending on how clean you prefer your grow to be, I would definitely use tap RO or something bro. Firstly, think of the ph, secondly, unless you are using some sort of filtration, you run the possibility of introducing pests into your grow.

Still, to each his own, I would just be sad to see something like that affect your grow that's all.

Peace.

EDIT*, Sorry, I don't like to do two posts, which is what would have happened since I saw another post about your soil PH, but this link is quite detailed, a little bit too detailed actually. I will look up some home remedies on RIU and come hit you up again.

the plan for the next few days is to slowly let the plants get used to the nutes and then hopefully by tues/weds i was going to put them under the 400w hps on 18/6 to start proper vegging.
