You can put them into flowering any time you switch to 12-12. I dont know how long a mj plants lifespan is, but an orchid can live for 100 years + if properly cared for, so just treat her right.

You can leave a mother vegging as long as you want as long as you feed her and treat her right. Years if you really wanted to. Then you can send her to flower at any time! :D She will literally turn into a tree though.

You really have to keep a mother properly trimmed. Kind of like a bonsai tree. Mine is looking like it needs replaced soon. Going on 9 months now. I could put her into flower but I'm worried about the type of buds that will come off of her.

How long a plant will remain in veg stage depends much on the strain & conditions the plant is grown in,some plants will go into flowering even if the lights are on a full 24/7 all on their own,i have a Big Bud mother that is allmost 3 yrs old,ive also had a white widdow mother go into full bud after 7 months in the same room/conditions as the BB mother.

Older moters produce woody clones that have a higher succes rate over young mothers,in turn older clones are more sexually mature & grow/bud faster as well as the older clone will produce fatter heavier buds.

The biggest benifit to having an old mother is finish time shortens with each cloning ,i can run a Big Bud harvest in about 6 weeks where when i 1st started that strain it was a 10 week strain to finish off with a heavy buzz.

they will be exactly like the buds that came off your last group of clones.
I grow my plants untopped. When I top my plants, I get alot of little branches below that i have to keep cleaned off. I like my plants single cola, I get dencer buds that way. It's just a personal preference. I don't really have alot or room in my setupt for mutiple branchs, they get too weighed down. My mothers always end up with thick, top branches with many branches.

I have noticed that my buds are a little bigger. I thought maybe it was because I was thinning out the bottom branches better. I'll have to track that now.

I will say when I take clones off of woody branches, they take longer to root then soft green branches. Thanks for the info.
