I think that fan will probably cover you so long as the room temperature (intake temperature) is consistently maintained below 75 degrees. This will help keep the interior of the tent beneath 80 degrees.

If you're just using CFL bulbs you have some options. I'd recommend doing some training in order to maximize the canopy width. LST is a very good option at this stage. Then you can veg for another 5 to 10 days if you'd like. Just focus on making sure you'll be able to maximize the use of the CFL bulbs as they have a very dismal casting distance and must be kept very close to the plant for efficiency.

You could simply flower now if you're not looking for all the hassle. Plant could hit more than 1.5 feet if it is a sativa.

i have the room temp at 80f (+- 2f) and the temp on the lids have been hitting 85f... do they just need time or lower the temp some more (dont know if i can...
...what do you think?
I think if you know how to use google you know that 85 is too hot. You probably have a temperature problem with your reservoir if the 80+ temperatures are consistent over 18 hours a day, and upwards of 85 at the bucket.

I also think your pH should be closer to 5.7 to 5.9 in fluctuation.

You are knee-jerk reacting. You keep swinging from one side to another. Too much food. Too little food. Too much heat. Too little lighting.

oh i also moved the Agro Son 400w mh up to 30 inches above the lids to help with the heat...too far away?
Yes. 400w bulbs are pretty ineffective past 27-28 inches.

Get it dialed. Figure out the pH. Figure out the nutrient levels. Ride them at a baseline and follow a plan. Get the room temps controllable. Keep your lighting at the right distance. These are all things that you have control over so try get them under your thumb.

thanx for the advice snow...that really helped...oh wait you ignored my questions and me seeking for advice...you help out some kid doin a half ass grow... i just googled it... fuckin think before wasting time needed to answer real questions...
Attitude says everything. This is not what people come here for. Everything you asked, other than my personal feelings, could have been also found using google. The proper temperature, humidity, light distance, and the lucas/h3ad/rez formula is all information that is widely discussed and presented online for you. Much in the same way this persons questions were available for him.

You appeared to me to be a fairly capable grower who was simply freaking out a bit. This is the case. Take a step back. The basics of Indoor and DWC need to be your primary focus. Temperature and Nutrient Solution. I don't do DWC so I can't really tell you what to do. I can say that your levels seem off to me and that alone could be causing problems.

Plants don't scream "ow" when it happens. Most of the time you are reacting to an issue that started several days prior. You have no idea what changes you made today, or yesterday, will have on the plants for a little while. As time goes on then you can determine if you are killing your plants or not. If they continue to suffer then you're going to finally address the high air and reservoir temperatures, swinging pH, and improper NPK ratios.

Smoke a bowl if you got one dude. We're all more alike than different around here. Birds of a feather flock together.

OK BRO CHECK IT OUT YOU DONT NEED TO GET MAD JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE BEING IGNORED. MAYBE IF YOU WERE NOT SUCH A FUCKIN ASSHOLE PEOPLE WOULD ANSWER YOUR ?'s. SO THATS ON YOU AND ANOTRHER THING IF YOU SPENT OVER A GRAND SHOULDNT YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING? SO WHOS THE DUMBASS NOW !!~!!!!!!!~!!!!~!~!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET A LIFE AND DONT GET MAD AT ME BECAUSE YOUR KILLING YOUR PLANTS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA BITCH O YEAH HAVE A GOOD DAY. AND THANKS A LOT SNOW CRASH THAT INFO HELPED ME A LOT BRO.

i think my only solution to keep the temp down would be to by a small ac unit of sorts until i can kick on my central air. then i can run my intake to the ac vent. i thought i read somewhere before that during seedlings in hydro that a ph 6.0 is best but i maybe mistaken. to be honest if i check my ph and its 6.2 i leave it...if its 5.8 i leave it... if it goes 0.3 away from 6.0 thats when i adjust it. is that a bad practice?..im sorry. im just concerned about the TD#2 and the mold that came from grow dome on the HimGold. ive looked around google and read forum blogs and looked at pics of my strains at its current stage to try and identify it and fix it without asking help. if you always ask for help before you try and figure it out you will never ever learn anything...i've tried raising the light to help with temps i got a fan on my ballist out side of my tent 4 fans inside with 2 120mm for in and out, i added a bowl of water to get my RH up and maybe cool off the tent...i know 85 is tooooo hot and i know mid 70's is ideal. and that can stall/stunt plants and kill em possibly...im trying to figure it out and get it dialed in...

Ive never grown a darn thing before besides a few house plants...ive got one now ive had for 6 yrs....i go to blog to blog and watch how to films and read books so i can someday maybe make this more then just a hobby...

ive got a lot better on feeding now since i have learned how to use my ppm tester (i think ive learned)...you said you dont use hydro...so you wouldnt have you suggestive ppms for 5" seedlings...just wondering what you would suggest...my plan tap water is 140 ppm(ran out of bottled RO water, gets expensive without a RO system) and i added about 180 ppms of nutes to each...ive learned that if the h20 and ppms go down evenly then thats ideal. if the ppms go down and not so much water then its eating everything it can get ahold of and you can feed em more and same for the opposite. if water goes down and not so much the ppms then you are over feeding and it has plenty of nutes in storage in the plant so i need to feed less...thats how ive been feeding. each strain will be different eventually and i will only know what to feed by the ppms in the res.. is this correct or am i somewhere in left field.

and im sorry for being a jerk to the dum dum...i rolled a fatty and i calmed down...i dont now anyone personally that can help me so i feel like this is my only outlet to get help and to get reassurance that what im doing is the right thing to be doing...i hate fuckin up, i hate making mistakes when they can be avoided( trust me i have made my share of em). i was just lookin on how to adjust fire or for you to tell me to keep on keepin on....i dunno really...i wish i had friends hat grew hydro near me...

Not actually my thread, there are just very few other people who take the time to help out, but I do appreciate the redaction and apology.

I'll quote myself on this one...

Huh?

Are you asking if you'd get more bud from a topped plant?

It depends on a lot of factors. Really no way for me to know.

First grow, germed great (taproot within 3 days) but no sprout for some 3+ weeks. Germed in rock wool and placed in a proprogator, it looks the same since thenlast time i saw the taproot 3 weeks ago. Its a fem northern light from nirvana. Help??!

The dimensions of the actual computer tower case are 8.1"W x 26.5"H x 18.6"D
(205mm W x 673mm H x 473mm D)

im hoping this will work and intend to grow the white widow strain but im not sure whether to get the seeds online or from a seed bank. This will be my FIRST GROW EVER!!:dunce: My friends and I are pitching in so im hoping the box will be tall enough. if not i have speakers that im not using and may convert into grow boxes (they're about 4' tall) any suggestions? i just copied most of that from the eBay description so i may have left something out... all in all it cost me 300 and i still need to buy seeds and some nutrients and a pH tester.
the things that im worried about this purchase are the height (mainly), the humidity, the lights. im setting my budget around 150 USD

I've a room with 6.5 Sq ft of floor space with a height of 6".
I'm using 3 x 400 watt ceramic metal halide bulbs. Room temp 80 at highest.
So I'm OK with it as is.
Question: My lights are 36400 lumen's X 3 = 109,200 divided by 6.5 = 16800 lumen's per square foot. Is that too much ?
Let it be known I've grown with the setup and I have zero problems or complaints.
Shoukd I add more or cut back?? Thanks

Do a little research on the "rule of squares."

Most of the time you need more than 5000 lumens for full photosynthetic growth, but different PAR ratings come into play there. In this scenario I guess it doesn't really matter...

A 6.5 sqft area with 1200w of energy is RIDICULOUS!!! That's basically a 2x3 space running more energy than an area 4 times that size would need.

You probably are pushing the upper limits but I don't know if there really is such a thing as too much light. You might not be getting maximum efficiency without CO2 supplementation in a situation like this.

Ive got a ? for ya!!! i am growing in a 6X4 closet its about 8 foot tall also. im using a 400w hps for about 8 - 10 hrs a day then four flouresent bulbs for the remainder of the time. I have no exhaust and the temp stays at a constant 83 degrees. and have a fan funning for about 8 hrs a day. will i have any problems other than smell? and also i have a partner who sprays them down with H20 like three times a day. does spraying them affect them in a negative way. no change has been seen in a negative way but ive been told you dont need to spray them. what do you think about all this?

I have no exhaust and the temp stays at a constant 83 degrees. -Problem. Air is important. Your temperatures are too high.

and have a fan (r)unning for about 8 hrs a day. -Problem. Fans should run 24/7.

will i have any problems other than smell? -Yes. Many that are unpredictable from my vantage.

and also i have a partner -Problem...

who sprays them down with H20 like three times a day. does spraying them affect them in a negative way. -It can and it probably is and you don't know it because you've never not done it.

Do some research. I don't mean to be harsh. Please take this as constructive criticism:

Spraying the plants with water 3 times a day is foliar feeding them. the under sides of the leaves have stomas that open and close. this is how they take in air. spraying with water clogs those stomas. If I were you I would quit the spraying and not be shocked if they start doing better. They should be able to get all the water from the soil. If you are spraying when the lights are on you can possibly burn you plants from the water reflecting the light. I run my room at 85 during the day and 70 at night! they do more than fine BUT i have plenty of air flow in my rooms.

Heat problems.
I have been growing since 1994, started outdoors, and worked my way indoors.
Most of the indoor growing I have done were with Grolux fluorescents, then eventually switched to T5s, which I still use with decent results every time.
Recently I have been doing some experimental grows, looking for a more efficient ways. I bought a small HPS light, and a 90 watt LED, and a hydro setup,
just to see how they work. I have been trying so many things to keep the 250 watt HPS cool enough to operate, and 93 F was the best I could come up with.
I have this in a 20" X 24" X 49" cabinet (with a separate cabinet above for ducting and the ballast) I have plenty of 44 cfm pc fans in there, and an 80 CFM
inline duct fan (which the hydro store recommended to use with a 250 watt HPS with a Supernova reflector) hooked up to it, and I have a 44 CFM fan as an
intake. The best temps I got was 93 after I removed the tempered glass, with the ambient temps outside the cabinet about 63 F. Is it because the Supernova
reflector is no good? Do I need bigger than the 80 CFM duct fan to cool it?

I know 1+ gram per watt is possible with HPS, I have seen it done. It should be relatively easy with strains yielding 900 m2, once you have everything dialed
in. I am getting .7 gpw with my T5s. which is good I guess, but if 1+ is available, I'd prefer that, which is why I'm looking toward HPS. Once I get all the HPS
stuff figured out with the 250 watt, I want to get maybe 2 or 3 600 watt lamps.

My personal method is to use as much air inside as you wish but don't create a storm.
In my world the only way to lower lamp heat is air exchange. Don't let the air sit and get hot and then try to cool it. Move less air into the room and more out the exhaust. Example would be a 130 cfm in & 150 cfm out. It's harder to push air than to suck air out. The embalance in cfm is the out end creates a negative pressure and pulls air out rather than leaking those fumes to your room.
You're 80 cfm should be enough to exhaust the air now get that hot air out don't let it sit. Your 80 can only cool the room to the lowest temp in the room. Damn am I just babbling or making sense??

Had to come back after rereading. Try 2 x 44cfm out and 80cfm in. Seeing how you've only 13.6 cubic ft. that fan setup will give a complete exchange 5.88 in a one minute span
