ok, so i have a question, i am planting seeds today after work, they are of the trainwreck strain(if that makes any difference) so for lil seedlings just planted:

what do you guys think is the best light schedule to start the lil ladies(hopefully) with, and when should it be changed?

p.s. im using a florescent tube with a cooling hood
They do not need light till they pop the soil then 18/6 IMO. Start em about 5" away and move the light closer as they get a little bigger!

hey guys wussup
im a new grower and i was wondering is there a way to grow your plants with flavor
like grow it with somthing to give it a taste
I am sure there are some out there, but don't think they realy work. All comes down to strain and cure.

Hey, i'm using Fox Farm Light Warrior Soilless Medium, and i'm using Fox Farm Tiger Bloom for some bloom nutes. Any suggestions of what i should use for Flowering nutes? Also, i heard after about 1.5months of growing you should start mixing the nutes with warm water and spraying the plants leafs, so that you dont get the ph level too high in the soil, is this true?
Bloom and Flowering are the same thing. I don't use M/J specific nutes, just the Dyna-Gro series because I use R/O water. I think you should be using a veg nute like folliage pro to begin with. Never read about the folliar spray thing to prevent ph fluctuation? I use it to fix mag deficiency and but thats it.

Hope it helped

hey, so any tips would be really appreciated... I'll tell about my set up. I have a fish tank, covered in tinfoil, with a couple plants growing under a 42 cfl bulb. I have no idea how much to water, how long i should leave lights on during the day, I'm just using miracle grow potting soil. And thats about it... so any tips or correctiosn would be awsome thanks man.

Hi, I'm doing an outdoor grow in a 1 gallon pot. My plant is about 16 inches tall and I have just started to give it 12/12 light. Quite a few of the fan leaves are turning brown and curled up around the edges and some have brown spots in the middle, and they have been like this for quite some time, before I started the 12/12. There are so many different causes of brown leaves I have seen I'm not sure what to do- some say it is because of too much nutrients, whereas some say it is from too little etc. What should I do?

How often do you feed?
BTW...you should transplant into a bigger pot, 1 gallon would not be suffice for a plant 16 in. or taller...

I just started my grow and I've got 2 1" sprouts. Plants seem to be doing better every day. My problem is, I jsut got a thermometer in the box and with the lights on I am between 88-90 degrees. I have 2 CPU fans mounted on the top of the box to exhaust air out but they suck. I was told to get a squirrel fan but those seem to be like $100. Is there anything I can go buy at Home Depot?

What can I do for CHEAP to get these temps down? I've got a 2x2x3 plywood box with 4 26w 6500k CFL's.

Edit: I think something like this would work well but I need something like TOMORROW! I'm afraid these 90* temps are gonna stress out the plants too much. http://www.hidhut.com/catalog/flat-whisper-fan-230cfm-p-1373.html

Hey i have had my plant outside for a month and its a foot tall, can i move it indoors with proper lighting? and yea i have to move it inside.

Hey. . .

I hope you can help. . . I just got a 600 watt cool tube with a dual arc bulb. It produces 68000 Lumen at color temps of 3200K and 6200K.
I am only growing about 7 plants for now and my grow space is only about 9 square feet. I cannot take advantage of the closed circuit venting for heat that the cool tube offers because I don't have enough for the in line fan and duct work yet. As soon as I do I will hook that up and that will solve a lot of my heat problems. I need to know how much CO2 the plants will need to be on a 20/4 schedule.

My plants range from seedlings to about 2 ft. and 1 is in the flowering stage. They have been grown in the house using sunlight through windows and very little CO2 (made from fermentation) I have used basic plant nutes cause I'm broke and cant afford better. I use a 20-8-16 during vegetative and a 10-30-10 for my budding babe.

Help me out with the co2 values and nutrient increases I will need to keep in mind now that they are under the big lamp.
600 watts is bright!

Thanks for all your help!

how do i rewire a ss-1 ballast so that it can run @ 240v? i have looked every where!!!!!! when i open it up, i see 4 connectors to red, white, green and black. what do i do? the red says 240v, i know the MVP chord changes the wiring configuration, but how do i change that w/o buying the extra chord???

Howdy
setting up ....here's what I've got:
1pc grow tent 100cm by 100 cm and 200cm tall
1pcvent extractor :Vents VKO 125mm - 185m3/h
10 meters long aluminum ducting
1pc COOL TUBE PYREX V2, 125mm diam, 420mm long
one piece regular clip on fan that intend to use to recirculate/ventilate the air in the room
one piece BALLAST ETI-UAL 400 WATT CLASS 1

pots ...soil..and all that

will get the 400w lamp in the weekend

No carbon filter and don't afford one at the moment

what is the right way to connect the elements between themselves (like a scheme ??)

I was thinking (but I may be very wrong ) like: exhaust vent in the grow tent wall (where has a special hole) connect inside to one side of the cooltube with the aid of ducting tape and kinda like suck the air from the cooltube(is this wrong???)
+and the normal vent inside on the floor

now just before doing all of the steps i decided to once again Google various schemes and I noticed that most of the cool tubes have on both sides ducting : on one side ducting leading to a hole(not necessarily with exhaust ) and on one side ducting from a vent.
What do you think is the best opition with what I've got

Will the cool tube be safe with no air being pushed but just pulled(as i first thought)-now i tend to think not
should i put a small pc vent on "second" end of the cool tube to push the air ...in the tube?

suggestions are welcomed

Thanks

i have the exact thing .. with carbon filter in a tent ..
heres a pew pics
its not too hard.. i have a passive intake which i built a box on the window frame for .. works like a periscope so the light doesnt come in or leave..
the window is open and inside the box is a hole at the top for the air to come in and two at the bottom for the passive intake.. (2 because i had one and the tent almost implodes when the fan is on)
the hole where the air comes in has a sheet over it fixed above the hole... so that when the fan is on the air pulles the sheet letting air in .. when i turn the fan off it hands over the hole stopping the light getting out.

the last pic is the inline fan .. ( its loud... .so i put it into a box filled with towels and then more towels ontop .. it then sends the air into the chimney.

I read that sticky you told me to read, and I did not see what lighting it should be when they first sprout? does 18/6 mean 18 hours of light 6 hours of darkness? (i read that above.) Thats all I really need to know now.

Will mycorrhizal (subculture M) stay alive in soil and hydro using foxfarm nutes? I use all 6.
Do I have to have subculture B to go along with the M. Will I see benefits using the M only?

thanks

Hi Everyone,
I am just starting so bare with me. I am currently attempting round 2 for germinating. I have a 400 watt hps and i am wondering when i should turn it on from germination. should i wait till they start to sprout or should i begin the light cycle a certain amount of hours after putting seeds in.

My process was as follows.

1 - pre soak rockwool cubes for half hour in tap water stood for 24 hours. (ph around 5.5)

2 - place seeds in cubes arranged in humidity dome.

3 - placed dome in room approx. 3x5x5 at temps 80-84 degrees f humidity 50 - 55 % inside dome

4 - to be determined
..........

thanks for reading

I'm a first time grower and i have a bunch of babies right now. I'm growing some in a room w/ lights and doing others in the sunlight. The thing is the sun travels to different parts of my porch over the course of the day and for the past few days I've been moving them every hour or so to make sure they stay in direct sunlight... My question is this: Is moving them around every hour or so (or in some cases even more often than that I think) bad for the plants? Could this incur shock or something of the sort. Thanks for your time.
