why are all trump supporters bitter, hateful. and racist?

they're pretty ugly and unfuckable too, but i want this thread to focus on figuring out why this lot of obese, old, pasty white racists are so hateful.

i mean, these people have had a great run in america. they grew up in a time where you could pay for college on a summer job, and buy a house with regular wages without needing a college education.

they don't face systemic racism, don't get pulled over for their skin color, don't get followed in stores, no one ever threatens to kill them for using the bathroom, no one is threatening to kick them out of the country or ban their religion, they have not had to fight for the right to get married, nothing. quite the opposite, they get extra leniency in all of these matters.

so what has turned this group of people into the bitter, hateful, racist losers that they so clearly are?

At the end of the election, we were told that economic anxiety was rampant and Trump voters went with him because economic stress. That was the story right after the election. Wrong answer.

Turns out the typical Trump voter lives in a household with about $60,000/yr income, white and denies black and brown people experience hardship due to prejudice against people with their skin color.

So, yeah, they have it easy compared to others and will kill to keep it that way.

fear is the most powerful motivator, certainly more so than logic and reason... this is due to fact that the "fight or flight " part of our brain evolved first.... so it's a deeper part of us than reason that evolved later...

Example, you are walking in dark ally and u startle a second, a bag of trash was a crouched person u thought for a split second, you quickly realize it really is just a bag of garbage... but as you walk by, are you on edge a bit more than u shud b walking by a garbage bag? I bet u r... the most basic part of ur brain is not fully buying the reasoning your more developed part of brain realized.

Conservatives have used this principle for decades, its low, sleezy, and at some point , which we are nearing I beleive, counter productive... they have made ppl fear Catholics, blacks, Jews, muslims, gays, gay marriage, the saying "happy holidays", govt in any form, Mexicans, sharia law, science, media, intellectuals, etc, etc etc.

Trump was not a phenomenon of 2016, he is a culmination of conservatives abandoning thoughtful n reasoned principled conservatism... (which can exist even if it Seems like a unicorn to us in modern USA) for short term political gain.

The fix is not fast for folks who have succumbed to Stockholm syndrome...

The UPS delivery guy that stops my work is an ex-marine in his mid 50s, a bit of a blowhard but generally a nice guy that doesn't seem hateful, and apparently he likes Trump. Just yesterday he praised Trumps UN speech.

My aunt, a generally loving and compassionate person I've known my entire life, taught 5th grade public school for 30+ years, voted for Trump. She defends her decision and Trump on facebook constantly.

I don't understand it.

I agree, i thought i hated W, feelings arent even close between W and Dotard Trump!

What we are going to do is stay on edge, stay alarmed by his insanity and never let any of it start to feel normal... we need some chunk of the population to remeber that this isnt normal, its not acceptable and doesnt have to be.

We must not assume he will be impeached, resign nor even defeated in a 2020, when someone underestimates him he comes out on top... look his approval rating jumped 3% or so in a week because ppl perceive he did great job w hurricanes and cut the deal with "chuck and Nancy", the average American is fickle and can go from love to hate n back again towards politicians... we must stay angry hes there.

I think other thing we can do is remind folks that conservatism doesnt have to look like this... that at one time it was possible to be conservative and sane...

Yesterday I was coming out of a shopping center near a busy intersection. It has two "roads" divided by a concrete parkway - an exit with two lanes and an entrance with one lane. At the entrance is a sign that says "burger king drive-thru", which is correct as it is the way to get to the burger king drive thru. As I am pulling up to the intersection in the left turn lane, some guy is pulling in from the street and is headed straight for me the wrong way. He swerves into the correct lane while screaming "you fucking idiot" through his open window. Then he pulls a u-turn at the first opening of the parkway and comes after me. So I pull into the gas station across the street and wait. He is white and about 30. He pulls up and starts berating me. I sit patiently. Meanwhile the normal flow of traffic resumes and I point out that every single person entering the shopping center is doing so through the lane he was forced to swerve into. Meanwhile the lane I pulled out of - the one he called me a fucking idiot for being in was full of people using it to exit. I ask him to consider this and he yells "well they are all fucking wrong!". So I shrugged, told him I liked his Trump bumper sticker and went on with my day.

I consider this a worthy parable for our times.

I went to a local town parade a week ago. More church floats this year. Some were handing out plastic toy soldiers. Most candy. You know in Appalachia you can still buy candy cigarettes.
