Obama, prince of peace? No wait, that was Jesus. I guess they gave it to him in hopes of what he may do, although, to me it looks like he is continuing the Bush war plans, and it's for damn sure they are not peace oriented.

you're welcome :bigjoint:
Being the first black President had nothing to do with it.

My understanding is that five people are on the voting commitee and there we three no's right??? But there is a trump card in there and he said it's Obama's.

That's close enough to be about right.

He got it the same reason Gore got it. They're not Bush and that's good enough.

To Obama's credit he's kind of bummed about the whole thing. He can tell he's becoming a bit over exposed and probably wants to pull back a tad from his Hollywood status if he really wants to be taken seriously.

he never would have gotten the prize if he wasent president.
why is he the president?
because he won the election? by a super land-slide????

he won it because he is the first black president of the USA, racism here is still seething, no matter how much americans deny it....... i think that's enough to win the Nobel Peace prize in my opinion , but I would've waited until his term/s is was up and the results of his policies really come to light...

not now, when there's so much at stake....

yes, i did change my opinion after a looong, high conversation with some black older folks (just a tad older than obama), and the stories they told me were kind of eye-opening....

Electorally he won by a landslide. On a percentage basis the country is still only split by a few points as was the election. It only takes a fraction of a % to win a states electoral votes.

ummm hello! you people must all be really high if you dont understand why President Obama won. you all need to put down the bong before your braincells dissolve.

reasons why President Obama got the Noble Peace Prize:

1.) his diplomacy and reaching out to and apoligizing to all the countries and peoples that the US has wronged in the past.

2.) he is the first black president, that is a big deal. if you dont agree you must be a racist.

3.) he is not bush and he is not a conservative.

4.) ending bushs war in iraq.

5.) TELLING THE DEA TO STOP FUCKING WITH MEDICAL MARIJUANA PEOPLE

and the list goes on and on...

His diplomacy has gotten him no where except next to Chavez.

Being the first black president is a big deal and if you don't think it is it makes you ignorant, not a racist. (I love the race card don't you)

He is not Bush is probably the most accurate of all your statements.

Ending Bush's war in Iraq...Really? Ok...I'm still waiting for him to close GITMO and you think he's going to end the Iraq war. Define "end."

The last one is the most laughable. Are you not aware of the 23 arrests resulting in 14 dispensary closures in San Diego County just a few months ago. I know...it was swept under the rug and many in Ca don't even know they happend. If you live out of state I'm sure you have no knowledge. Some argue that it wasn't a federal raid. The DEA was the front man assisted by local enforcement...there were also federal charges.

I don't know sister. Most of these commetns by you are feel very knee jerk yet I can tell you thought them out.

"Jessica" is a previous politics subforum stalker.
She's clearly passionate but actions is what I look at. So far nada. The troop surge is a great idea but in the war on terror that follows Bush 101. In fact all of Obama's military efforts are mirror images of Bush. Troop surge, defense secty...etc.

If someone really doesn't like how a war is going the Secty is the first to go...especially when there is a Dem coming in after a polarizing figure like Bush. Clearly Obama felt Patreaus was doing a fine job so he kept him. Patreus = Bush...it's that simple. Too bad it took Bush so long to get rid of Rumsfeld. We could be a few steps ahead of the game by now.

I'm waiting for Obama to say "Peace through strength." Soon he'll be channeling Reagan.

these raids were considered necessary because the DEA had already invested a bunch of money and time doing the investigations.... also, they were reprimanded and labeled 'rogue agents'... all of the san diego arrests that happened recently had charged filed on a STATE level, by an over-zealous DA with a political agenda, and a ultra-conservative sherriff with nothing to loose...

... only 2 charges were filed under the federal forum, i believe it had to do with parole violations or some shit like that....

aaaand, there's no race-card.... he won the presidency being black in still racist america. that's enough for a nobel peace prize...... they should've waited till his term ended..... oh well...
