when i test the run off of my soil when its fresh the soil reads in the low 5's on ph scale and above 2000ppms, so high my meter jus doesnt read it. I've been told to flush if your ph is to low in soil cause of build up of nutes. well ive flushed and flushed and flushed double omount of water for every gallon of soil and still cant get it above 5.6 ph. whats going on? when i did flush it starved them oh ya the ppm in runoff was 400 ppm and plants are 3 months old 2 feet high!
I'm giving H&G soil A&B line up of nutes. at 6.5 and nutes runoff is still in 5.8 range. i just dont get it? when i flush in between feedings the ph is at 7.3, still low ph runoff

should i add cal-mag to nutrient feedings is that bad? I only use 1/4 tsp per gallon with my r/o water.
should i add lime to buffer ph.
fox farms soil has really taking a noise dive in my opinion all there batches i buy now are crap!
I've found rusty ass 16 penny nails in there, dirty bloody band-aid whats else oh ya random clumps of stuff dont know what it was huge tree roots, like where the heck are they making There soil? on a construction job site or what. but all i know is i dont spend 20 dollars a bag to buys shit i already have in my garage or medicine cabinet.
The quality of this crap is boo boo.
what if i was using this shit in my garden my kid was playing in and he/she gets a name in there foot. I'm gunna be one pissed off customer!
It was as if the pile of dirt was a trash can.

True i hear what your saying, all trial and error, if i wanted to know everything obviously i would have to go to school.
Fortunately i have these forums cuz i've learned damn near everything off this site.
But with the issues ive had has all been with cal-mag deficiencies and potassium. i've started using pro tekt silicate and cal mag. one time i gave just plain water and calmag in 4 weeks into Bloom and bam i had a major lockout. I've heard that calcium carbonate will make your ph fluctuate.
I have always had this issue in this soil and everytime in 4th week of bloom i start getting cal-mag deficiencies. i had a guy tell me at store other day that he mix's happy frog and ocean forest.
That is LW?
I'm wondering if fox farm needs more lime in it? As it would take care of my calcium problem.
People say to add epsom salt for mag def. but i just cant see myself putting more salt into the soil.
with synthetic ferts and my teas i notice this shit all the time.
I tried spraying cal-mag on em but dried em out a little. 1/4 tsp per gallon
still scratching my head? I'm using r/o water and everything! granted my filters need a changing my ph is 6.8 when it comes out and when i leave it to sit in water bottles it rises to 7.4.
And my ppms out of r/o is 30 soooo i dunno.
I've been told i shouldnt have to add calmag to soil or potassium silicate. so whats the deal!?

I use a cup of agricultural lime in a bag of FFOF. I never tested before the mix,but after transplant and first watering, the runoff was pH6.8~

thank Charmilles, where do you get your lime at? and is that after the first water that you get that reading??
in bloom what nutes are you using and does the lime flush out after awhile or does it stay for full round

If my test comes back yellow I add ashes, If my test comes back blue I add domlite lime. You can buy it from a lumberyard. It's used in concrete.

Personally I am not yet checking PH. I will, but not for the 2 ladies That I have in FFOF right now.
When I get a small hydro setup I will be testing it all.

I think that posting some more info on your grow and maybe a link to it might help you get more response, I hope you get all of the info that these guys can provide.

I saw a grow this week, guy cared not for PH, just gave it well water (untested) Outdoor. I think he will get 6lbs+ from 6 plants.
Results were awesome!! There will be a lot of happy patients.
Bump!

Be sure you use this stuff sparingly. I scale it to a gallon of water and when I have the number I multiply it by the gallons of water in my resevoir. As a matter of fact since your in dirt and you want to bring your PH down, PH balance a jug of water with powdered lime, and water with same schedule. You can only do this if your water is blue naturally. Most water in North America tests blue although I have seen naturally green water.

ya my water is nasty! strait green!
ya i want to raise it up.
whats the ratio mix for watering in and topping the soil up with it?
I heard 1 cup to 1 bag of soil prior to potting, but whats the topping and water in mixtures?
can you burn with this lime? or add to much?
