Why is g/W used as the benchmark?

I always thought grams/watt was a dealer thing. I grow personal and some boutique strains will never produce well as far a weight but the buds should be something special.

so when a grower who put 2kw over his 4 plants pulls 5lbs its a way to convert it so people can relate who put 600w over their plants.

600w over plants is never going to compete with 2000w

its like listing your ppm without a scale. means more of shit than it does already

a true measure of efficiency would be kwh as someone said above.

just as 2000w will outgrow 600w, 2 month veg will outgrow 1 month veg

you are right. still doesnt make it a bad system just because some strains cannot compete with others.

like everything it is all relative

a SE 1000w wont out grow a DE 1000w and 1000w of QB or top bin COBs will outgrow the DE

I completely agree. I was just trying to point out that personal growers should be more concerned with quality rather than quantity. We need a "dank meter".

For sure. But that doesnt take away from the fact that quality can be grown under better performing lights to get a higher g/w.

Its a measure of efficiency. Efficiency is not synonymous with crappy buds.

I mean who doesnt want MORE buds for the same effort/lighting costs?

True but its pretty much the only one you can look to alone as an indicator. Its still the main psychoactive

Means nothing. The trippiest weed I ever smoked was called Black Ghanja in the Eighties and it was an African sativa. The THC was likely in the low teens or lower using tests back then as a meter.

It must be the balance of the many canabanoids in the plant that creates the high in my opinion.

The white widow that won the cannabis cup back then was tested at 12%.

Man we used to get red eyed giggling high for hours on a joint of early 90's widow.

Dont forget thcv cbn, cbc, and so many others we still know little about
I want to try Jack The Ripper by Subcool 420, It supposedly is high in THC-V that is an appetite suppressant. I am the worst for getting munchies and eating everything in the house right before bed time.

I've seen everything from 0.6 to 1.6, soil to hydro respectively.

Think of it as a basic benchmark.

It's a bs metric that people need to stop using as a benchmark.
I've seen perfect rooms full to the tits with bud pull only 1g a watt and small scale grows yield over 2g without even pushing it.
Does that make the smaller scale grower twice the gardener as the commercial guy?

I never found that to be the case with jtr and certainly not with Chernobyl.
Both gave me mega munchies.
@GroErr has a lot of experience with jtr genetics he'd know best.

I've never tried it, just heard that it had THC-V and Subcool and his wife Jill said THC-V was an appetite suppressant. I'm not speaking from experience just something I saw on a youtube video.

You should go with the Doug's Varin. That's the highest THCV strain around. 6.5 total THCV and 7% total THC
