black gold soil, GH and super natural furtz. I water at 6.5 ph. and noticed run off was way low.. I just started to flush at 8.0 and the first runoff as at 4.8??? what could be causing this and how would I fix and control it?

i've never checked the ph of my runoff in soil as i'll never understand what it tells me...

imo, trying to cure this you're going to open up a big can of worms and end up causing yourself more and more issues.. just continue to water and feed at around 6.5 - 7.0 and you'll be fine... in fact, i don't even ph my water either .. :D

I just went through this problem. I do not test my runoff unless I start showing lockout symptoms. Turns out I got a bad batch of sunshine mix #4 and didn't think of premixing lime. After chasing my tail thinking it was over fertilizing I started to flush like crazy, which only caused more problems with deficiencies. Test your soil ph by taking unused soil and mixing it with distilled water and read the ph from there. If it is really low then you will need to lime your soil. If it is average or neutral then you most likely have any overfeeding problem and need to leach your soil. But if your plants are healthy don't worry about it to much, just increase the ph of your feed a tad.

Its really not that hard to correct the PH of your soil... if somebody cant handle that... then just give up now lol .. and runoff tells you what your PH is haha its not rocket science..

Ya, do you actually have problems, or just curious?
If your plant is doing OK, I wouldn't mess with anything until/ if you have a problem like Racerboy says.

it doesn't tell you shit but what the ph of the run off is.. tell me how dumping water through a medium is going to measure dog shit of that medium? please, i'm waiting...

run off ph is useless... it tells you exactly dick shit... and unless you're using some dog shit dirt out of the back yard, the ph should be perfectly acceptable.. go talk to uncle ben about soil ph, i dare you.. :D

The PH of run off tells you the PH of the run(BFD)...PH of the root zone is whats important, not the run off.

Simply scratch some dolomite into your soil and you'll never have to worry about PH or Cal/Mag issues either...happy growing!

Just adjust your ph to 6.8 to 7.0 when feeding and when watering and don't sweat the run off. Why make problems for yourself.

hey asshole ITS TELL YOU WHAT THE FUCKING PH OF THE SOIL IS!! Its a pretty fucking accurate.. if you cant understand that then Im not going to explain anything to you.. there is no dog shit in my medium so.. I dare you to actually get some growing experience and not just be a post whore your entire life..

That first pic looks to me like a K def., which could be caused by your low PH.
Did you mix any dolomite lime in your soil when you potted?
You might have to top dress with some and let it water in, but otherwise, watering with a little higher like 7.0-7.5 for a couple waterings might help.

Its quite hard to believe your ph in your soil is that unstable, found soil to genraly stabilize its ph consistantly, and testing runoff is for ppm/tds testing mainly when flushing ,you should never even end up testing the ph of the run off coz its shit. Always thought thats why soil is more forgiving because its ph is easily stabled.

Like Cooter said just scratch some cal/mag into it. A very simple process. Don't make this hard on yourself. This little plant just wants to grow, just stand back and let it do it's thing. MJ plants just flat out grow if you let them'

Add sum dehydrated lime to your soil. And when your at the store buy a soil Ph tester. Leave your solution Ph tester in the drawer. If you grow in soil test the the soil. Your run off is what ever was leeched from the soil.

I know this is now summer but I have used black gold for a while and lately had inconsistent results. I never ph but had to, so I p.h.ed what was going in at 7.8 and what came out at4.4! I thought maybe my electric doohi ky was off so got an old fashioned indicator test that confirmed my initial findings. I have been using mad farmers get up and giving every one at least a gallon of water with a 10.8 p.h. (they are in three gallon pots this time) and flushing with the hose water (7.8) and they still flush runoff at about 5 p.h.. Your concerns are valid, run off is as good an indicator of root p.h. as anything and I will try happy frog or 707 next time. Thanks for validating my notions carter651.
