yeah we pay alot of taxes here in canada however.......the healthcare system here still isnt as good as it could be and we still have private clinics that you have to pay for if you want no wait time or specialized care.
but i would still rather pay my taxes and have free health care than live in the states and not be able to afford to go to the hospital for lack of insurance

So what happens if the Healthcare Bill takes a dive just like Cash For Clunkers? Is our "faithful" government going to just drop healthcare because it ran out of money? Face it, our government has been bankrupt since the early 1900's. Why do you think it can "give" all this shit away for "free"? Because the American Taxpayer (not the politicians mind you) is paying for it because the government doesn't have enough money to wipe its own ass. Our gov. is run on a system of debt and credit. I don't see how a government that has no money can spend billions on a national healthcare coverage plan. We're borrowing all of this money from CHINA. CHINA is the reason our heads are above the water. What's going to happen when CHINA comes to collect its debt and takes your healthcare as collateral, or a flat out trade? Are you going to let the country with forced abortion and severe population control strategies and policies dictate your healthcare? Keep your doctor, go ahead...and see if you've still got him 12 months down the road.

Well then we are in agreement on a number of things. Absolutely federal government has gotten too big, there are many area that can and should be cut starting with the drug war, the DEA, the Homeland Security Dept we didn't even need to have stopped 9/11, roll back all the changes to government since pretty much nixon and do away with welfare/medicare/medicaid many things but that doesn't mean I think it's wise to just let people die in the street there needs to be a replacement.

All government is not bad, we must have it or we get taken over but had we put half the money we do into killing people into actually helping our own citizens I'm pretty sure we'd be better off.

Apparently though my idea of balance and yours differ greatly. I don't think it would do us any favors at all to cut off all social programs and let people die in the street and in fact it sounds like one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard. All that will do is create even more crime and if there's anything we have plenty of here it's crime.

Millions of people have just seen their life savings and retirements they've worked a lifetime accumulating disappear and you want to leave them to starve and cut off all access to any health care? Wow, how generous of you. I can see clock towers filling up with gunman just with the thought of your plans.

Speaking of slavery reading this thread makes one wonder if we're headed towards another civil war. Seems like the south has risen again after all and I don't mean in a racist way I mean there's getting to be a larger and larger divide between opinions without any end in sight. One group stuck in the mud and clinging to religion and the other still too divided to agree on much of anything. I'd have to put my money on the religous nuts winning, at least they all work together and put most of their differences aside.
