Why would some people go for low THC strains rather than high?

In my opinion why would you go for a low THC strain when you can go for really high but just use lower dosage for that same low thc affect? which means more yield and would last longer.

Well see alot of people who actually use medical marijuana for purely medical purposes rather get relief from their sickness than intoxication, as alot of medical patients experience adverse effects caused by a high amount of THC such as anxiety, and paranoia.

Some folks use medicinal cannabis for actual medicine.
Oh yeah but what if you could breed cbd and thc for them to both be high on 1 strain or for cbd to slightly be stronger than the thc but both equivalently high still so that both stoners and medical people would enjoy the same strain by just taking less? it's not like a stoner is going to complain about high cbd?, and yes I'm high as we speak this is why this idea jumped to my head.

There are children who benefit from cbd. I can certainly see where stoned toddlers is NOT a good idea. In some states (Georgia for instance) these children would no access to the cannabis they require for the treatment of their illnesses if it had ANY thc at all.

In order to get maximum benefits out of the medicine some strains require both cbd and thc to piggyback and work together for maximum positive effect.
Sometimes its nice to just have a variety because not all situations require face melting highs.
Theres a time and a place i guess would be the best answer.

There are many components in the cannabis plant that affect the 'high'. The ratio of THC/CBD is one and the combination of terpenes is another mostly overlooked part.

imo, higher thc levels doesn't necessarily equate to more potency.. i see this all of the time on tv when people say.. "this isn't your parents weed when talking about today's cannabis compared to weed from years ago..
imvho, there's much more to what makes cannabis strong or more potent or w/e term you'd like to use other than high thc levels..
