Will 400w HPS burn as hot as 400w CFL?

last grow i was using about 400w of CFL the temps in the area (4x4x2) only got up to 80-82 degrees. So i was wondering if a 400w HPS would be hotter or the same temps?

HPS puts out less heat per watt then fluorescent because it is more efficient. HPS lights often come with reflectors, which means it will be directing light and heat towards the plants, rather then omnidirectionally like CFLs. Unlike CFLs, which are usually very close to the plants, HPS lights are farther away. In the end, it all ballances out, so I would expect the same temps.
