Will hydro kill the taste of my strains!?

I have just recently decided to start growing indoors.. as such i orderd some quality genetics. any time i have grown it has been outdoors in soil, and this is the medium i choose to use indoors to get started for stability. In my research i came across alot of great information about growing in hydroponics.

How ever i see conflicting info everywhere about the taste or lack of from growing in hydroponic systems.

What I have found out is, When cultivated in soil, the spectrum of terpenes is more developed and gives your plants more flavor. terpenes are a large and varied class of hydrocarbons. Terpenes and terpenoids are the primary constituents of the essential oils of many types of plants and flowers. Essential oils are used widely as natural flavor additives for food, as fragrances in perfumery, and in traditional and alternative medicines such as aromatherapy. Or as it relates to canabis, provides the rich, distinct, and elaborate - tastes and smells.

For the connoisseur who is not worried about growing fast and growing big because there is no supply and demand to keep up with, is hydro worth looseing the super lemon taste of super lemon haze, or the chocolate yummyness of chocolope?

It is a myth that hydroponic cannabis will be far less superior to that grown in soil.I'm not saying that hydro weed will taste the same it may be a tad harsher but when you weigh the benefits of growing hydro up then there realy is no other method if you are growing for yeild that is.70% if not more of the cannabis smoked in dam coffe shops is grown in hyroponics. But another myth is that you will have to do less growing in a hydro sytem the truth is that more work is requied and far more can go wrong, and if it does go wrong it is harder to put right. If you are going to grow in soil rather than hydro i would grow less but use far larger tubs so that the root mass can grow to it's full potential thus giveing you a larger yeild. When i first started i started with a nft sytem and i would advice this for any new growers wanting to start with a hydro sytem.Real simple and easy way of growing just a pump pumping a nutrient rich film around the top tray and back into a resievoir. But i would get a ppm/cf/ec metre and a digital ph meter no matter what you grow in these two thing's can mean the differance between success and failer..............................tyke.................................................................................

Taste generalizations are BS. I've had hydro that tasted amazing and I've had organic that tasted like shit. The expertise of the grower will determine the quality of the final product.

Dont hold me to this but I think when people talk about hydro not tasting as good is when the grower doesnt flush correctly. This is where you can get that harsh nasty tasting bud. I also hear conflicting stories when to flush and if to flush.

Just my two cents...

Meh. Hydroponic growing, in my opinion, is far better than soil growing. There seems to be something about giving the nutes straight to your plants seems to give the grow a cleaner taste - in my opinion.

But it is true, if you're not flushing at the end or using a flushing agent, you might get a little nute taste at the end.

Advanced Nutrients Final Phase is a good one to use - or you can use a bit of water in the last few weeks of your grow.

Hydroponics, for me, seems to have a heavier harvest at the end than any time I've seen a soil grow. I mean, I think technology wins in this regard.

And while I don't have fancy equipment to check the THC levels, I think hydro harvests are a better high - of course, varying on the strain and the quality of the grow process.

I agree Decrim....

I also grow Hydro instead of soil and have seen better results. I am no expert by far but can see that hydro grows are so much faster and yields are good too.

Proper flushing improves the taste immensely for hydro grows. Funny how this myth of "hydro grown taste less then soil" grows is still rotating around.

It ultimately comes down to the grower. No amount of technology, fancy Noots, or equipment can replace a poor grower.

*shrug* I can see where the plant would have it's own ability to be great, it just needs to be provided the basic building blocks for growth and it takes care of the rest. Thanks for your experienced input guys! I look forward to faster and fatter, tastey yeilds!

from personal experience Hydro is much better tasting and packs a stronger punch!
weed grown in water has a much better chance of getting all the nutes that you put into it rathert than most of it going into thesoil, just remember to flush those last two weeks (stop using nutrients and ferts) just water to flush any foul-tastingstuff out of the plants, yeah the lower leaveswill turn yellow but that means you are doing it right.
