Will I increase yield by switching 2 x 150 hps for one 400w hps ? 30 days left flower

If that light has more output reaching the plants, then yes, you'll definitely get an increased yield. If that's an industrial bulb, it probably isn't the greatest, but it should still be putting out more than those two 150's do. If you want to get a little more output from that 400, get some aluminum polish from the auto store, and polish the inside of that big reflector. It doesn't have to look like chrome when you're finished, just remember that every little bit of extra shine will increase the light reaching your plants, increasing yield. Then spring for a better growbulb when you can afford it, and that'll help even more. :)

HERE ARE THE SPECS OF THE 400 WATT HPS LIGHT BULBS THAT I BOUGHT:

ANSI Ballast Type: S51
Base: Mog
Bulb: ED18
Colour Temperature (K): 2,100
Lamp Watts: 400
Light Output Lumens Initial: 51,000
Light Output Lumens Mean: 45,000
8) Rated Average Life (hrs.): 24,000+

HERE ARE THE SPECS OF THE 400 WATT HPS LIGHT BULBS THAT CAME WITH THE BALLAST:

Light Output: 32,500 lumens
Energy Used: 400 watts
Average Lifetime: 15,000 hours
Volts: 100
Bulb Type: ED18
Base Type: Mogul Screw (E39)
Color / Finish: Clear
Color Temperature: 2,200K

DO YOU THINK THAT THE LIGHT BULBS THAT I PURCHASED ARE MUCH BETTER FOR GROWING THAN THE ONES THAT CAME WITH THE BALLAST..

Cheers !!

Definitely a much better bulb. Same spectrum, same electric useage, and getting 35% more output. Excellent.

My question/thought is why not use all 3 lights... put the 400 in the middle and put the 2-150's on each side as side lights to hit those low spots, then you would really have some good coverage...

what he said! the more the merrier! and no, it's not too late to increase yield by improving conditions.

There ya go, that'll really kick ass. Why the hell didn't i think of that?LOL I have three 400 watt HPS's and a 600 watt HPS in a 5' x 6' room, so as a 'light addict', I should've thought of that too. Doh!

Thanks for all of the replies !!
Do you think I should just put both of the 400 watt HPS lights on the one plant then ?

My next question: The shade That I am using currently covers the one plant perfectly. will side lighting with 2 x 150 HPS be overkill ?? Please refer to MY CURRENT 2010 GROW KUSHIE KUSH for reference.

What about the shade ??
No shade or leave the shade that is on it. just so everybody knows I am using converted High Bay Lights.
They were brand new and FREE, they arrived by courier earlier today !!

ORIGINALLY HOW I HAD THE LIGHTS POSITIONED BELOW:

PREVIOUSLY HOW THE 2 X 150 HPS WERE POSITIONED IN ORDER TO GET MORE LIGHT PENETRATION BELOW:

CURRENTLY HOW THE NEW 400 WATT HPS IS POSITIONED BELOW:

Keep the 400 where it's at, and add those 150's on the sides, and you'll get some killer buds. If you start to see some bleaching,(or heat stress) back the lights off a little, then let that thing grow like crazy. It should turn out to be a great looking plant, with nice buds from top to bottom.

I too again would say go with the 2 150's as side lighting and make sure you have plenty of air moving over your plant and that your temps don't get to hi in the grow room.

yes you will.. do the math 150+150=300watts,,,so yes you will have 100 more watts of power..remember keep growing simple
lol watts dont add up like that. neither do lumens. if you put two 1000 watt lights over a plant that each put out 80000 lumens. you will not get 160000 lumens on that plant. you will simply be making a wider surface of light. lumens dont add up dude. sorry, you would be better off with the 400 watt, or better yet. 1000
