I was just thinking, I heard that its the period of dark that the plants take notice of rather than the period of light. Dose anyone think if i did a custum light scedual on my 7th week of flowering. Im currently on 10/14 on/off and was thinkin of adding another 8 hours of light and keeping the dark hours the same. If anyone knows if this would fuck up my buds Id appreciate the input:mrgreen::joint::mrgreen:

Plants undergo a process called photosynthesis to survive. This process requires light to produce food and it never stops.

The longer dark periods are very important for flower production because it simulates the long nights of autumn.

If you were to give the plant more than 12 hours of light at any time, it will immediatly stop bud productions and revert to vegetative growth.

So yes, more light will hurt your buds.

I like the 12/12 best. My understanding is that the plant gathers energy in the light and actually grows in the dark time.

so wouldnt it gather more energy during a longer light period?
The more light you add might make the plant think its going to switch back to veg. 12/12 is the best. Light is like the seasons fall has less light hours than summer.

if you have already introduced a flowering light schedual you should leave it be...any severe flucctuations like 8 more hours could put the plant back into veg...or worse....

That's absolutely not true. Many experiments have been done with latered photoperiods, and have been found to increase overall yield. 21 hour daylight periods are covered in an article in the growfaq here:
GROWFAQ

To quote:
"The potential for a net increase of 40% over the entire cycle (80% increase in light energy vs. 40% longer wait) is worthwhile. Don't be afraid!"

As said however, I would be extremely prudent about altering your plants light schedule after flowering has begun. If done gradually and carefully, I'm sure it would be no problem, but my personal feeling is that we're already fucking with the plants natural environment enough without haphazardly throwing more x factors and unkowns into the mix.

FTA: [DISCLAIMER]: This information is provided as experimental data and not fact.

The increased weight is likely from leaf growth that is too small to trim off the buds.

lol 12/12 lighting schedules simulate the short days of fall, telling the plant to prepare flowers to catch the pollen of the dying male plants...

People can read some facts that maybe worked or didn't that people clam work but for the newbie let try not to miss inform the newbies. Between me and my family members we have over 3 decades of experience. So you can believe me or not check some of my pics.

That is not true cyks,Halfway through my flowering stage I add 1 hour of light per day for 3-4 weeks. This helps harden the buds and pushes them a little harder..An extra hour or 2 will not harm the flowering cycle.

Typically you want to clone during veg stage. Not sure how well it will work taking fully flower plant changing back to veg. I have taken cutting when only week and half into flower and it took like almost month before seen turn around to veg. May not work in your case. someone out here may have had better result.. ??? Good luck:twisted:

it's difficult to clone during flowering, as it will take weeks to revert to veg. add to that the fact that at that late stage in flowering you will be flushing it with no nutrients, and the plant vegetation will be very weak, which won't help your chances of successfully cloning. in addition, the best foliage to clone is at the base of the plant, which will probably be additionally weakened by the plant's diversion of resources into blooms.

well, my thoughts are don't do it. Every grow book you look at says 12/12 for a reason. It simulates late summer sun. Thats my 2 cents
