Will my system work?

So I bought this cheap hydro system online just to see what it was. It resembles a Bubbleponics system, but instead of water being pumped up in to the baskets, there is only an air stone in the container.

My question is, will this work??

Supposedly I just need to keep the rockwool cubes moist until the roots grow down and out through the basket, then make sure the water level is up just below the baskets and the roots will grow down in to the water.

Will the roots actually do that - grow though a little bit of air space to get to the water?

Yes it's a DWC Bubbleponics system and it doesnt have a top feed drip system. DOnt freak out you dont need a top feeder with the air stone. The air stone should splash water bubbles to the bottom of the net pot. .. I do this in a 5.5'' net pot. 1 full inch of hydroton at the bottom , insert my seedling in rapid rooter plug and then fill and compact hydroton, then in the reservoir I fill up to 1 inch under the net pot and in 8-10 days you should have roots in the water ..

this will definitely work man just like dicky and beaverhuntr said the top feeder system isn't necessary it just makes sure the seedlings for sure have water and speeds up the process a little bit, to save money i didn't use a feeder drip system and the bubbles themselves were PLENTY for the seedlings you will be fine

ok, here is a pic, but I also have a problem - one of my seedlings fell over.

to me they look long, and maybe that is because there is not enough light, but I read recently that seedlings should not have much light until they get a few branches signaling veg stage??

Your seedlings require light as soon as they crack their seed pouches and expose their baby leaves.
