OK...Ive put into soil last week my first 7 seeds...But ive been having problems early...
after about 4 or 5 days none of them popped thru soil...So i dug them up come to find out i buried them to deep so i replanted a little shallower and they begin to poke thru a lil after a few says ....ok so i had to leave for 4 days so my seedlings have been in the dark for 4 days...and havent had any light or water until last night.....ok so when i get back they are like 3 or 4 inchs long and are droopy really bad...i think its becase they lihgt i was using was rasied higher becasue of heat....So lastnite i lowered the light bc i hear that stops stretching if you put the light closer....But im totally lost bc i dont no whats going on with my plants...

i started my sprouts, seedlings under my 400 watt MH no problem for me .. u should get a timer. also if u have the 400 Watt MH it will get hot and dry out the soil quick.. what is your temp ?? humidity your PH?? u doing soil?? u have any pics of your sprouts??

yea sounds like light deficiency.
as for your light, the 400 watt MH should be fine
but get it closer to your plants
bout 5-6 inches away. and seedlings need light 24/7 until veg stage then switch to 18/6, then 12/12 for flowering
personaly i use CFL's until i veg
MH are good for vegging because of the blue light spectrum. HPS gives off a red light spectrum thats good for flowering
if a plant stretches to much as a seedling it will just wilt and die so get that light closer man.
if your worried about the heat blast a fan on your setup...helps encourage strong stem growth and keeps your light cool.
you should have a fan anyways for ventilation

OK here are the pics i was talking about...

You can see how some of them stretched when they didnt have lights for 4 days.... and last night i lowered the light to the height in the pics and had the light on i read that helps with the stretching...this morn it lookd like it burnt them a lil...Hopefully the pics help with what im saying

i dont really know what to do with the light..... If i raise it its gonna cause them to stretch...but if i lower it its gonna burn them....will the fan impact it that much that it can be closer.....?? Im going try to revive them...spent enuf money to just throw them away now lol...

you need to have the fan blowing the heated air away from the light and plants, not on them. mount it on the wall facing your bags, about 2"-4" above the top of your bags, and about the same distance from the bottom of your lights. i started my plants w/ a 1000w m.h. and didn't burn them. i had the light about 5' above them for the first day or two, then lowered it down a little (1') each day, til i was about 18"-24" away from the tops. i also had my fan blowing air in between plants and light. but you did do a pretty good number on those, it might be too late.

Yea i guess 4 days away with no light or fan will really hurt them bad.....Ok I take it i should just give up on these girls and try again....

I think im just going to start my next ones in 5 oz cups to get them started then transplant into the bigger bags....i think im going to try and just transplant these girls into smaller containers for a few days and see what happens until i can get my other seeds in soil....
