Will This Work?

I'm going to grow in my friends attic and it is hot as hell up there! its like 80-100 in the summer and gets cold as can be in the winter. i was wondering if this would cool the attic
Master Flow Power Roof Mount Vent 1600 CFM'S (Shingle Match Weatherwood) - PR3DSMWW at The Home Depot
the attic has 3 window like things, 2 are way in the back far from the grow area and 1 is right by where we would grow, we were planning on using the window closest as an exhaust for the veg and flowering room. its just hot as hell up there and thats the only prob.

We have had many discussions about using this area for growing. It can be done. What you have to be able to do to make it workable is build a well insulated room in the space and then vent it. Picture of the space will help determine if your space is big enough for it. Keep in mind you will have to have electric, water and sewer as well as the air handling for it to work. If you can do all these your self it could work. VV

you might just want to buy a normal window air conditioner that sticks out the widow, then exhaust out the other window. Make sure you get a carbon filter of some sort so it doesnt get stinky outside. If you have under 5 plants the smell probably wont be too bad but careful

thanks for the replies, i think im going to cut into my a/c up there and just have a hole in the vent so some nice cold air will escape into the attic and help cool it off, and i will pry insulate a room and use carbon filters on the a/c vent and on my exhaust that goes out the window. thanks for the replies! if anyone has any other ideas or anything let me know. and let me know if this vent idea will work

I'm a roofer,,I have put in a thousand of these,,they are good,,if you have 2-3 for a small to medium sized attic space,,they can also be set on a thermometer,,and come on and off automatically,,you can have no other regular vents in your roof if you want these ones to work,,they will cool your attic space,,but as VV said,,you need an insulated light proof space in the attic,,and cool and vent it,,but these are good,,actually a better model is made by Broan,,good luck

Keep on Growin

I was thinking the same thing. get something like a empty dresser without the drawers, put it in your attic. have a ac unit blow into the dresser at the bottom and exhaust suck out with a squirrel cage fan. i need one of those too if I plan on moving into the attic... I don't know how much they run.

A different idea would first keep the exhaust out that window somehow in the roof, but intake from a hole in the upstairs ceiling to your growbox. a box would make your plants in their own little room and you can push cool air in and suck out the top hot air you got sitting in there, water daily with the lights on 24 and good to go. Air, water, light = buds. keep your lights 1-2" away from tips to avoid radiation burn. use nitrogen in veg growing. half recommended strength for big plants, 1/4 strength for small vegging plants. potassium for flowering the buds. flower at 12/12 photoperiod.
