The roots look fine for the most part. The water did get a little low as I was preoccupied this week and couldn't look on them as much as I would like to have. There was a little fuzzy growing at the top of the roots closer to the net pot. I did a water change and added some beneficial bacteria. I also added a kelp extract such as liquid karma. The other two plans actually have new roots growing. Both sites are connected show all 6 plants share the same water. I will post some pics in a bit when the lights come on

Will do just wondering if the beneficial bacteria will help. If so how long will it be till I see results?
sorry my friend, but beneficial bacteria does not really "fix" anything. Beni's work by crowding out the bad bacteria, but if the other bacteria is fully established then beni's will have a real hard time doing their work. Also, they dont kill anything, the bad bacteria will still be there and you have just created a microbe rich environment for all bacteria.

So the short answer is beni's work as a better preventative than corrective measure. For you to see an improvement the beni's will have to establish enough to grow new root and root hairs. Minimum of 4 days, could take a few weeks to see anything.

Also hate to say that beni's dont work sometimes and they work a lot less as reactive. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. Since I just put it in flower would it be best to just remove it? There is still no change. The other plants look healthy and dont want the same thing to happen to them. Can it spread? I dont see root rot. there is no slime and no roots floating in the res. there is no foul odors either.

Yes it can spread, and it will spread. You need to get a handle on it one way or another. I am not a fan of beni's in hydro set ups, I think they should be left for soil grows. Possible sources are city water, spores in the air and even beneficial bacteria themselves, or bugs. Most likely fungus gnats. Fungus gnats and root rot go hand in hand, they either cause it or are attracted by it so keep an eye out for them.

Another possible cause is your system/environment. Are you water temps to high? Do your roots sit in water for to long? You might just need to adjust your flood times or something like that to keep the water on the roots fresh, or add a chiller.

Heres another thought, are you sure its root rot? You said the roots look ok, and your ppm of 1400 is pretty high. Try cutting that in half, maybe you just fried one of your plants. Also, look at some healthy root pictures on the internet then look at yours, do they still look ok? They should be pearly white, fuzzy and smell like cucumbers.

One telltale sign I get in my grow that indicates root root is a very slight curl around the edge of the leaves. Its only at the very edge and looks kind of like its outlining the leaf itself, other than that the plant may not look very bad for a few weeks and will either somewhat recover or end in a wilted plant/

The reservoir temp is 68 degrees I don't see any nights I've grown to strain out for about 2 years now and never had this problem. My roots always look brown because I use seaweed extract or liquid karma

Does your res have light leaks?

Hard to tell for sure, since it so out of focus, but they dont look healthy at all, even with staining. I think you should stop using everything except your base nutrient until you fix this issue. You are adding a lot of variables and if you have root rot you are just wasting your money at best, and maybe even making the problem worse. Throw that plant away, or seperate it from the others, and use a sterilizer in your rez, and change your water every few days till you feel confident things back on track.

Hmmm. I would stop using ANYTHING that made my roots look like that.
The difference in yield is astonishing. After using seaweed extract I would never go without it. It is the cheapest and most effective additive that you can use in any garden. I am not bothered by the color of the roots. Before you knock it do some research on using seaweed or kelp extract in your garden. After you try it I guarantee you you will never stop using it.

I really appreciate everyone's response. I have no idea what happened to that plant. The other five are coming along just fine. I really wish I knew what the problem was. I have been growing this seems strain for the past year where I lost a plant. It wasn't root rot, there were no broken branches, and the reservoir temp was 65 degrees. PH, ppm and air temp have all been in check. I guess it's just a mystery from here on out. Thanks again for everyones response and have a happy Thanksgiving.

Are you talking in hydro? In the res? Nothing organic goes in mine.... Would spell disaster for my roots. And besides, isn't it just a N boost? I'll add more of my part B if i want that.

Foliar is a different story i suppose.. I've heard good things about that.

Glad to hear your other plants were unaffected.

You are still not getting it. Do some research before you say what you will and won't use. Do a Google search using kelp in the garden. I'm not trying to get into a pissing match over whether who is right and who is wrong. I guarantee you if you read about it and try it you will be thanking me. Have a happy Thanksgiving and thanks for your sentiments on my surviving plants.

You are still not getting it. Do some research before you say what you will and won't use. There's just too much to explain about how beneficial it is and yes foliar spray helps a lot as well. You can use kelp from germination till the last day of flower. Do a Google search using kelp in the garden. I'm not trying to get into a pissing match over whether who is right and who is wrong. I guarantee you if you read about it and try it you will be thanking me. Have a happy Thanksgiving man!
