Does anyone know a way I can extend the thermostat cable? I want to take it from in front of the cold coils and put it in my tent 5 feet away. Can I just cut the wires and splicce extra wire on?

usually it will be a solid "copper" line in front of the condenser coils. some will have some extra in there so i can be pulled out some, but NO you can not just add wire and make it longer, so to speak.

And, you must make sure what you extend with is the same gauge, otherwise the conductivity will not be the same.
If anything, go with smaller gauge (larger diameter) wire, that way you will have enough.
You can always turn down the thermostat, but you can only turn up so much.

So I can add the same gauge copper wire to extend it?
