Hempy #2 plants are 10 days old now, and doing well in the CFL closet......at what point would it be beneficial to start utilizing the HPS room to continue with the veg mode?

My "Quantum Series Lighting" is 600 watts but can run at 75% or 50%....should I consider the lower outputs for young plants?

It can run either MH or HPS bulbs..... is there much added value in using MH while in the veg stage?

yeah definately better to switch to a MH for veg, and also you could benefit from slowly increasing the light output % as it will reduce shocking your plants with the HID bulb

Ordered some new beans last night.
5x BLZ bud (seedism)
1x pineapple express (g13)
1x white widow (greenhouse)
1x the ultimate (dutch passion)

Freebies all ch9 seeds
1x toxic blue 33
1x herijuanna jack 33
1x afghan haze 33

I'm also trying to decide whether to build my new flower room or buy a larger tent. Want around 8x8. Trying to figure out which one will be cheaper.

so hey guys i love hempy and everything, but love the air pruning idea with smart pots... so say you had a run to waste drip ring setup on some coco-hempys, with an air floor and the air pots. the air floor would need to double as a drain and be designed so that the pots will block the light out of the resevoir. anyways i want to try and figure out a good medium to use for a dripper setup, as i already have a pump and a res, and my room is very hard to reach the back of (4.5 feet away from door, no way to go to the side of it cause its deep closet). I figure each dripper can have its own ball valve to adjust water feed rates and i have good digital timers to set up good watering timings down to 1 minute. my hope is that i'll be able to do a few hempys on the closer side and mess with the dripper rings in the back. just curious as to what other people think of the idea of being able to water a plant that is unreachable, and also how to incorporate hempy wicking with air pots. Maybe it would be that the hempy would need a longer water retaining medium like maybe string some rockwool fiber in with the coco, so the plants wont dry out too much, or if its a better idea to just water more frequently and still use air pots so that you water even more frequently. i know i blabbered a lot there but please any ideas on this is appreciated..

Having never used an airpot, your idea is feasable with a drip ring system. You may have to elevate your tray some to get the run off and return to your res, but a 20 tank set outside the tent at most would likely need to be topped off about 2 or 3 times. I believe Jela runs coco and perlite, the perlite is in the bottom 2 to 3 inches and the rest is coco and both hold moisture well. Your timing cycle for water/feed at most would be 15 to 20 minutes every 3 to 4 hours. For better info I suggest you go read this thread as it may shed alot more light than I can.

I'd wait till they get a few more weeks on them, like right after you start feed them nutes. Depending on what kind of bulb you have running at 50 to 75 % could damage the bulb. Personal pref but I'd go HPS all the way unless you want the advantage of the MH in veg which would help.

Hi everyone, I was just up working in the short bus, when I noticed it has started to smell...HMMM I need a carbon filter but not one outside...So I made a Ghetto filter.

I used a dryer vent box, perfect size as it's 4 inches and the connection outside is a dryer cap vent , Part of the problem was the fan did not fit tight enough for a good seal so I used some weather stripping and it not only quieted it down but it held perfectly. As it has sticky on both sides. 100_2145.jpg Solved that Issue, 100_2146.jpg now to add a carbon filter? I used a plastic tree wrap that was adjustable in size and had some nice holes already in it 100_2148.jpg, next I added a panty hose filled with activated charcoal, but I needed a way to keep the charcoal tight , so I used some canning jar rings and inserted a thin foam filter inside of it 100_2149.jpg too keep it together and retain it's shape. Inserted into the dryer vent 100_2150.jpg100_2151.jpg Tucked everything nice and tight. Put it together and tried her out. 100_2152.jpg Fan blew connectly and connected nicely to my 4 inch intake tube and my 4 inch exhaust vent..Taped her and sealed it with gorilla tape and gave it a try. 100_2154.jpg everything seemed to work well. And it's done...I'll do the sniff test later.. But here it is my Ghetto Fan and filter. 100_2159.jpg The fan was a PC fan I added a 12 volt adapter too, pulls through well.

Just threw in some plant pictures too 100_2156.jpg100_2157.jpg

Depending on the number of walls you have to construct you might get by pretty cheap building it. I'd run to Lowes or Home Depot and price it out then look for the best deal on a tent and compare. You might find a great deal for a tent that size. When you going to grow the ultimate that sounds interesting.

I plan on popping it as soon as it gets here. Had to try one after reading the description. That BLZ sounds killer too! I think I'm juat gonna do a 2x4 frame and wrap it in black and white poly. I can hang the lights from ceiling rafters.

Edit: guess I shoulda been more clear, an 8x8 room built out of 2x4s.

LOL...it's funny when I think about it, if I had a house I'd want a room just to grow in. Since I'm stuck in an apartment I'm limited to a portion of a room, started with a 2'x4'x5 tent and quickly out grew that. I also have a 4'x4'x7' tent and I realized just the other day it's not big enough. My initial thought when getting into growing was to get a 4'x8'x8' which I should have done, but when I look back at the close calls I have had as of late, maybe it is for the best that I stay with what I got. If you have the space and no worries make your space as big as possible, I know I would.

TGA Qrazy Train - 5 weeks flowering. Look at the nice christmas tree structure she has. If you keep internodes tight, she'll form a nice cola on the top that turns into a massive golf ball. Resin production is just unreal at this point. Amazing looking beauty and she smells of grape sprees.

Just chopped a bunch of my Royal Cheese (a bit early) . .. I don';t really like this strain in my grow-room. I've not found it easy although someone with more patience could have done better with it. ... still need to trim them up a bit which I'll do now.

I'm so much more happy with the GDP I have. I would have to give it a 9/10. .. Its not twitchy on nutes and responds to typical N/P/K levels as you would expect. It doesnt stretch much after the switch and has really good bud formation. The fact that it DOESNT form a single cols is a plus IMO. The buds are round and bulbous and super solid, it's almost a cola but the buds are all defined which prevents any rot. Although rock hard the buds have plenty of space around them for air to move. I can't wait for my big crop to come in but I do have 5 ready to be chopped in a day or 2.
