Hey everyone, took down my World of Seeeds Afghan Kush Special tonight. Day 65 from flip. 100% perlite, 2 gallon buckets under 250w HPS.
Nice Thanksgiving harvest stone! You can see the trich's without magnification. Those 2gal buckets can produce, can't they.....

Thanks guys.

Jela I have to agree. I definitely noticed a difference from the 5qt handy pails I normally use. The extra 3/4 of a gallon really helped out I think.

Stone, How much water did the res hold?

BTW awesome job...wow I missed that till today, they did great
Thanks who. I split 2 gallons of nutes between the 3 giving about 10-20% runoff.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Took down the remaining 2 girls last night.

Big Buddha Cheese day 66 from flip

Will any hydro nutes go well with hempy, if I have some send here from a hydro store located elsewhere, what is the most important ingredient? What MUST I have in my feeding? Please guys, any help would be really nice, even though I wont have space to get started till this round of flowering comes out, please! :)

Ok fellas, so here we go.. I have been "veging the girls" under 2 shitty 14w "grow cfls". Just put them under a MH bulb today. 1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg

they are pretty flat because i have been pinching them in the upper nodes to keep down height the last few days. i over-pinched the one that looks the scrawniest so i just cut the 3-4 nodes above it off. i thought it would be a good experiment even though i messed it up.. first grow in a lot of years.. bonzai i think they call it? similar to what that other guy on the forum did(mainlining i think).. cant remember what he called it.. been using a coco/perlite mix thats local to CO, and CNS17 grow, liquid karma and the silica blast so far, with RO water.. 4 of them are DrGT's ECSD and one is a local dispensary bagseed (bubblegum from AOM) also have a newly popped Reserva Privada Skywalker OG that isnt in the pics.. planning on switching them to 5 gal hempy buckets in the next 2-3 days. was wondering if you all think that is too soon. BTW my grow tent height is almost 8 ft so I am not too worried about height, just uniformity.. using a 1000w mh/hps ballast in a 5x5 tent. 5-6 plants.. any advice would be awesome.

my hempy stump wasn't doing so well, as I'm guessing just not enough sunshine to make any noticeable difference in the trichromes...so when I pulled it this morning the root were stinking really bad, some ugly root rot going on down there.

Anyhow, she cut and hanging out to dry....the half a dozen popcorn bud should make a joint or two

anyhow, no more grows for me until 2014

cheers

ISK, your experiment with the sawed off runt is interesting and thank you for posting. We usually tell the hydro world about how robust the hempy system is and how free of root rot and pythium issues it is. Yours is the first genuine circumstance I know where root rot actually occurred with a living plant. I believe the largest success with hempy comes from medium transpiration and leaf transpiration working within a short watering frequency created by the shallow reservoir size. Liquids and nutrients are absorbed and moved upward through the medium and plant faster than bad bacteria can form in the res. In your case, lower temps, lower leaf count and possible incontinence based on the large cross-section of cut stem, all combined allowed food/moisture to stay in the res long enough for bad bacteria to colonize over the good bacteria. Now we know the limits.

thanks Jela...the hempy stump never once fully dried out in the whole month, but I kept on watering/nute it about once a week. (so I think the lesson here is always let your hempy become feather light before watering)

I also defoliated (removed the large fan leaves) at about the 2 week mark, this may have even further reduced the water consumption.

When I did pull the stump out, there was still water from over a week since last watered, so I believe is was just not drinking and as mentioned the root rot was way worst than shown in the pics, the backside had rot near half way up.

I think we can still proclaim that hempy is root rot free, but my experiment did prove that anything fool-proof can be broken if given enough effort.

Anyhow, many thanks for all the feedback I received from WOH, can't wait for 2014 to start another Hempy

ISK, I don't know if I told you this, but you have inspired me to try GH Maxiblloom in the form of the one part "Lucas Formula". I just knocked down another 9.5oz with two plants and figured I've reached the ceiling in 2g buckets under ≈400w and one FIM during week3 veg . Now I'm going to ditch the full Canna lineup for simplicity as a checkpoint of where my success lies (method, lights ect.). It's so freakin easy to dump a tsp/gal (7g) of MB and shake it versus measuring out, to the milliliter, 5 different ingredients. So I have a single "Blue Lemon Thai" at week 3 veg using Maxibloom already. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm thrilled that I could inspired such a seasoned veteran as yourself...hope it works well for you

Lucas says you can use Maxi-Bloom from start to finish, but I had already purchased the Maxi-Grow, so I use it for the veg phase.

I do highly recommend the milk frothier, as it makes the mixing the powder so quick and easy compared to jar-shaking.

I'm missing my gal so much already that I set up my "hempy" Christmas tree a bit early

....the mini-lights died so I bought some LED lights...a total of 2.4 watts of multi-colours (red, orange, blue, green & yellow).

Thanks...im over it already lol...n Slow me down..nah..maybe speeding me up! Lol just waiting on my long ass flowering rhino bag seed and a royal haze and I'm on to my next run...with addition of some tomato cages and a change up of nutes from micro n bloom to maxibloom and a silica additive... Can't wait to see it come together!

Jela having done the powder maxi bloom one part Lucas plan I would really suggest the liquid micro and bloom. I know it consists of two bottles but it performs much better than just max bloom solo. MaxiBloom by itself gave me some deficiency. Nothing bad enough to not pull a crop but that micro is very useful. What seems to work well for me is the simple when in veg two parts micro to one part bloom and when in bloom two parts bloom to one part micro. I do use PK 13/14 for a week or so due to your suggestion.

Anyway I've been absent a lot from the board...working 70-80 hour weeks and my Nissan Pathfinder broke down. Tip...don't ever buy an 05-08 Pathfinder or xterra. They put faulty parts in a crucial area "ie" the line running from my transmission to my radiator used to cool my tranny fluid. Car overheats I check radiator...and it looks like yogurt inside. Tranny fluid been mixing with my coolant and coolant mixing with tranny fluid. If I'm lucky and tranny can be flushed all I'll need is to replace my radiator flush the FUCK out of my coolant system and reroute the tranny cooler lines. If I'm unlucky I get to replace my tranny too. Checked my oil/heads and than Zeus I saw no water so I didn't blow my engine or gaskets. Looks to be 800-8000 to repair depending. Oh and Nissan is doing their best to fuck loyal customers. I'll never buy another Nissan. 5 year old truck that cost me 30,000 bucks and I might have to toss 8000 more at it (high end).

Anyway sorry for rant..driving my ladies girls lil Chevy. Has gotten to me lol.

Having the weirdest shit going on with my Berry Bombs. I'm at 9 weeks today and almost all are still literally covered with white pistils. Getting a fuckload of foxtailing and seeing a bunch (on two plants) of what look like false seed pods. I took my big blue dream down and haven't seen a seed at all and no weird foxtailing. Which makes me wonder if it's genetics. I did have my electronic ballast go out on me and MAYBE it caused some photoperiod issue? Would one of two lights flashing on and off during lights on cause issues? And why not my blue dream?

Now these girls took forever to really initiate flowering almost 4 weeks before I had puffballs going and the males took for fucking ever to make pollen. I am ok with a 12 week strain if I know it's worth it" thing is that everything I've read says berry bomb is a fast finisher. By looking at the buds not knowing their age I'd say 3 more weeks. Nothing is really end of flowering dense yet fucking loads of new growth...and on some a good amount of what looks like vegetative growth with nodes running along it. Ivemcut nutes way down as I was assuming ok maybe it finishes dramatically. Kinda tripping on what to do. Feed em? Lets em run with low nutes for more weeks or fucking cut em down make a shitload of hash ..I'll post some picsnull_zpsdf608708.jpgnull_zpsc93c2433.jpg
