Ok I got a 250w hps set up. Now in week 5 of flowering and was "awarded" 2 «25w 2700k cfl and 1 «68w 2700k cfl with 4200 lumens. Will adding these 3 lights to the sides help in anyway? And if so how? Size if bud? More yield? Or just more money on electricity? Thanks for any input

It depends on how big your garden is. If it's one plant, then just leave the 250w. If you need more coverage, you could put the cfl's on top and rotate the plants around. A 250 will light maybe a 2'x3' area well. Side light is not bad, maybe kinda diagonal would be best, kinda between side and top. Plants can get more lights through the top than through the sides because of how their leaves oriented. I would go ahead and use them in some way-I think you can get a little more bud to make it worth the electricity cost.

Well the problem is I kinda left the hps to high at the start. So I have a 5ft orange bud plant and I was hoping adding the 3 lights would make better buds.

I can change the height, but its to big so all I would like to know is if I put 3 cfls around the sides will it increase anything? Bud growth, yield more? I'm wondering since I'm so far into flowering. Thanks for your imput.

Yes, and yes. More light = more bud growth = more yield. It looks like the lower branches aren't getting much light due to the height of the light above the lower canopy. I would put 3 42 watt cfl's one the sides near the bottom.

You know, if you had topped the plant you could get a more even canopy and then get your light down closer to the bulk of the plant. With a tall center cola and a lower wattage light like you have, it's really gonna be tough to get the light down low through the rest of the plant. In that case only the tops get light anyway, so you might as well have just vegged for half as long. Also, you might think about a grow tent to contain the light and reflect some back on the plant. You have a low wattage light, and you really can't afford to be losing lumens.

yes more light is better. put them as close as you can w/out burning them. Rule of thumb- if its uncomfortable for your hand where the flower is than its uncomfortable for her but closer is better more light is better always as long as you can keep the heat under control.

I tried adding some cfl's last night for side lighting but with the 1000 watts of hps, I couldn't even see the light from the cfl's... So to me their useless.. Maybe with only 250 watts of hps, they would help...The more light , the better...
