would this light work ?

hi there found this unit when i moved in to new house would it work ?
the information give on unit reads as follows
THORN EMI
G53438.4
1X70W SON LAMP
240V 50HZ
the bulb reads as follows
crompton lamp
son 70w

i all read have a 400w hps plus 250w cfl to go in grow room once built was just woundering if i can add this in ?

any one any ideas

Yeah, sure. It'll get hot though. Won't make much light compared to the 400w HPS, but if you want to use less electricity while the plants are still small this'll do fine.

It sounds like its wired for 240v, not worth using if its only a 70w..... Not sure what kind of light it is, but probably nothing ideal from the looks..... Id put it in a box and save for the future.....

just wired it up . works fine . but now where near as bright as my 400 . so just started germinating my seeds and that light will do fine till i finish my room off over next week or so .
