Would this work for co2?

I was wondering if something like this would work for co2.
Its for fish aquariums.
Electric Aquarium Aquatic Plant CO2 Generator - eBay (item 380002789861 end time Apr-02-08 22:17:32 PDT)

Im not sure if it has to be submerged under water or not, if so I was thinking to stick it in a bottle and run tubes just like with the yeast/suger 2 liter set ups, but this way it would be less messy, wouldn't have to shake it up, and I would know it was working strong and not like yeast that putters out after a week or two.

What do you guys think?

im not sure how much co2 a plant uses, but that thing produces

"Amount of CO2 generation: 0-250ml (based on a 10 hour period)"

so it will produce at MOST a 1/4 liter of co2 in a 10 hour period. that doesnt seem to be alot to me. that might work for one plant... im not sure, if you had four of them things you could produce AT MOST a liter of co2 in a 10 hour period.

its only 5W though, which is like no electricity compared to a HID light.

sorry, i dont think i helped much, just gave you my 2 cents...... sorry... peace out, good luck.:blsmoke:

Well any idea how much the yeast/sugar thing makes?
I only grow 4 plants so I don't need to produce massive amounts, but if it wouldn't even be noticeable then I would look for something else.

i would say on the yeast/sugar setup use like 2 2liters for 4plants, i dunno the measurements, but it does work. also, i was to understand that plants need co2 in the leaves but the roots need oxygen, i dunno, i could be completely wrong tho.

yep, seems like thats the consensus, about the co2 and o2 for roots. ya, you could even do a gallon container with the mixture.

put 2 teaspoons of fast acting yeat-can get at the grocery store

add like 4 cups of sugar- i add like six, so i can get more co2. but you have to watch out when you shake the thing up when you add more because there will be a little pressure behind it. lol

fill 3/4 of the way to the top with warm h2o, then mix for 10 mins or so. store in warm location and shake up like twice a day or w/e you can do, but more shaking i think is better. should last you 2 weeks or so...

im not expert on this matter, i just started doing it myself a week ago, but it seems to produce some kind of gas. i dont have a co2 meter though so i dont know if its actually doing much good, but im sure it cant hurt. good luck peace out:blsmoke:

ohh ya, i added a small hole on the cap so it will constantly release co2, and it wont spill as much if it tips over. also when you shake it up, just put your finger over the little hole and shake shake shake, shake shake shake, shake your botty, shake your botty..... lol sorry about that one.... :hump:

 you can do it.
