Would this work?

So heres what i wanna do: I want to go outside, dig a 12-15 gallon whole, pour a whole bag of fox farms ocean forest soil in it, water it, put my germinated seed in, leave. Ive got 3 regulars and 7 autos. for the autos i'd do a 5 gallon hole. Any thoughts?

Personally, I'd plant the seeds in Dixie or solo cups first, that way it's not a waste of expensive soil if the seeds don't germinate. Just a thought, no reason why you couldn't do as you described.

always hard to say, but its common that a healthy plant out doors under the right conditions (lots of Sun) planted in the spring and from some good quality genetic can yield +1 pound per plant, autos maybe 250g

so yes, out of 11, if just 2 of the reg finish and a few autos even planted out late I would say so and maybe more depending on wether aso

yea its not to late at all, tho when I grew outdoors I had one month old Veg plants, that I had planted out 14 days ago, at this point

yeah id be starting them from seed on june 14th..and i dont need much more than like 11 ounces..just for personal use over the year. I just hope i can get ATLEAST 1 oz per plant the way im doing it

that sounds fine. why wouldn't it work? it'd actually work better than using a small pot first because of temp & moisture mediation and root space. root space, soil, water and sun basically are the key. plants with root space take off like no tomorrow. although you can have moisture issues if youre not careful, if you dont think you can handle watering them right, use a container.

I wouldn't plant any sooner where your at, don't you sometimes get a frost in early June. Isn't it colder there this year compared to last? As for waiting till Mid June to start the seeds, I would start them sooner than later, like now. Digging a hole instead of a bed or a patch is a bad idea. I just wrote a post about this for someone else, here is a copy and paste.
I wish you luck when it comes to burying your grow pots underground. I have experience bad things in the past with this. My experience was, I dug a hole in the ground just big enough for the pot. Now the soil around the pothole was hard and the pot’s soil was soft, guess where all the rain water likes to drain too, the nice soft soil, ultimately resulting in all kinds of bad thinks. I hope this doesn’t happen to you.
Or in your case a hole without the pot is still going to fill with water after a good rain and overwater the plant, if you happen to have a wet year. In my case I had one good rain, the ground didn't drain and the plants hermied on me. And yes if you want the plants to amount to anything, you need to feed them.

i cant do it any sooner then june 14th. also couldnt i just avoid that by digging up the ground around it and just loosening it? if not, i have a ton of composting chicken bedding with their shit all over it. could i dig around the plant and in the places i dig put the bedding so the water would just sink down in there?

so you want like 7 bags of fox farm soil? those are like $15 or more per bag. a little over $100 for what you need.

you could stretch your dollar better if you just got bales of peat moss and mix it with dolomite lime so its at the right PH.

add in some water crystals, epsom salts and your good to go. you may need to fertilize a few times. worm castings, and composted manure are great additions as well
