Would you start seeds in soil amended with fish meal, pelletized guano and alfalfa meal?

Hello RIU.

Yesterday i mixed my soil recipe.
Tried to follow the concepts of this article: https://foliarsprays.com/features-and-benefits/mineralized-soil.html
Concepts i see reflected on several soil recipes.

I'm not sure about popping some auto flowering seeds in it just because the nature of some of the amendments.

Nutrients added for each cubic foot:
1/2 cup fish meal 11-9-5
1/2 cup Phenix: commercial pelletized fertilizer (ingredients: guanos and yeasts) 5-3,5-13,5
1/2 cup alfalfa meal

I will use most of the soil with plants already started in cups, but wanted to know your thoughts about popping seeds directly in it, since i may try some auto flowering ones.

I've read that the guano maybe too hot to start seeds, but since it's a guano based product it maybe not too bad?
I will let it cook for 4 weeks before using it.

Thanks

if you JUST mixed this no way... in 6 to 8 weeks sure why not.. its not "hot" the way that nutrient soils are hot..... It can however literally heat up while breaking down and ruin your plants.

If you are worried about a hot mix just add in some coco and perlite to lighten it up. Guano is slow release; should be ok. Next time use spent soil with some ewc added for starting seed or young clones. Save your amendments for your veg and/or final bloom mix. No need to amend the soil for younglings; they don’t need very much.

I have a batch of spent soil i will add the ewc and use that then. Anyways my plan was not to use this new soil on seedling, i work them in cups. But was also thinking about popping some autos, and i believe should be started in their definitive pots.

This. First response is best in this case.

Use Crab, Neem, and Kelp meals if you want a soil that can be used immediately. Otherwise, you need to let the soil "cook" so that it isn't hot.

If you have a spare probe thermometer, stick it in your soil some time when it's "cooking". You'll notice temps of over 100F, shit will cook your roots and destroy your plants.

Either water and turn your current soil mix daily for 4-6 weeks, or start a new blend of soil with crab, neem, and kelp meals in it instead of the ingredients you listed. Don't get me wrong, Fish Bone Meal and Guanos can be awesome, but you need to take the fact that they're "hot" into consideration.

Sounds cool , maybe a lil earthworm castings and kelp etc. sounds cool but just make sure it drains and retains properly.

Yes, the soil is hot to the touch, i am turning it every 48 hours.

I can't get crab, neem or kelp meal unfortunately.

No issue, just gotta work with it is all. Main point in organics is working with what you have handy, no need to break the bank to grow any plant IMO.

Just keep watering/turning the soil and wait for everything to decompose until its not hot anymore and you'll have yourself a fine soil.
