Would You Suck..... OR Blow??

Well My 6" Cool-Tube arrived today(yippee ki-yay Mutha Fu*ker, High Temps be gone..) Well I hope so??

It's HUGE(The Cool-Tube Ya pervs) anyways couple of Questions...even though been reading up on this..as always LOTS of different opinions on this one...

(a) Would you have Fan before the Cool-Tube(Blow)

(c) Would you have Fan after the Cool-Tube(Suck)

Also read a few different opinions on this >

(d) Would you Suck/Blow the Air from the GR through the Cool-Tube and Exhaust straight outta the GR

(e) Would you Suck/Blow the Fresh Air from a separate Intake and Exhaust straight outta the GR

And Lastly, at first I'am gonna have to use My BIG ASS Exhaust Fan(summat like 550cfm) but in next week want to Buy Fan just for the Cool-Tube....

So what size Fan(cfm) would be just enough to cool the Cool-Tube(600w Hps) gonna be on ALL the time so don't want Loads of Power=Loads of Noise...

Hey! I've always heard that a fan sucking is more efficient than one blowing. I use a 6” 240 CFM inline fan (sucking) to vent my Yeildmaster 6” air cooled reflector (23.7”x22.5&#8221. It does a good job with my 1000 watt HPS in a 4'x4'x6' tent. The intake is close to the cool basement floor and it vents about 4 inches from the ceiling. If the fan were to blow, it would generate a bit of heat too, something that makes more sense after the reflector IMHO. The fan is inside the tent and that cuts down a bit on the sound during the day. It shuts off right after the lights go out.

Cheers Guys...Just been fitting it and "What" a mission, always is when I change something in the GR..

Set it up so that it's pulling/sucking and after a 1 hr the Temps have settled? @ 19.1° and 51% Humidity.

That's just what I needed to know/hear...at the moment I'm on 12/12(8am - 8pm) but the BIG ASS Fan is SOOOoooo noisy..so would rather have a lesser powered one that still does the Job and make Less noise..

Need a Splif now...ALL the Clips that came with 6" BIG ASS FAN was for a 4" Kit...took a bit of messing with Bunggee Cords and Ducting(silver) Tape...done now...will Post a Pic when can find My Damn phone/USB lead????

I couldn't tell you which is 'correct' with d and e but when I had my 6" CT in my small bathroom setup I used option D and it did ok.

My new 1000w setup I went with option E, pulling in from one window, thru the light and out the other window, with a separate room exhaust and the light does run very cool to the touch.

Fans are WAAAYYYY more efficient at pulling than pushing

Cheers again Folk's I was kinda set on the "pull" method...it was just after trawling through much Info and Posts that I became unsure..

I read one such Post where a Guy basically said that before the Cool-Tube was better, because the Air Passes over the Bulb is colder and also that by having the Fan after the Cool-Tube you shorten the Lifespan of said Fan because its getting Hotter,and Hotter so to speak..

Like I said gone with the "Pull" But gonna have to get a smaller(cfm) Fan...The Big one is just way to noisy! Good thing I got a stereo in the GR blasting out a Little ClassicFM during lights on to try and mask some of the Fan(s) noise...with Intake(on a timer every half hr for 15 mins) and the BIG ASS Exhaust Fan(now taken off Thermostat, and on ALL the time Lights on) + 14" Oscillating Fan and a 6" oscillating Fan its like standing on a Bloody Airport Runway!! and I'm Deaf..though do wear a crappy NHS(Amplify ALL noise) Deaf Aid...Trust me they Suck...though not as much as My BIG ASS FAN!

That's a dangerous question I always prefer a good blow job...oh wait defiantly suck

the only concern id have with pulling is drawing heat into your fan and heating the fan motor more than needed , i have mine blowing for this reason but im thinking of switching it up to see what works better if i were also using a carbon filter would i go (filter >cooltube > fan > )

Cheers Folk's, I am going to have 2 x Exhaust Ports(Both 6") the Cool-Tube will be on its own Run and the BIG ASS FAN will just come on when needed(Thermostat) and cool the GR.

I'm thinking about having the Carbon Filter on this Run(The Thermostat Controlled GR Fan)....not worried as much about smell as I am about Heat and Noise...once I can swap out the BIG ASS FAN for a smaller(cfm) 6" Fan for the Cool-Tube...I think I will be 1 step closer to having GR dialed in(I hope) The hardest part for me is Fund$ and having to do all the bloody work on My own..I'm a bit of a Train Wreck!! Herniated disc, Sciatica(though better than it was) Insomnia(which does My F*@king head in) and Deaf(about 70%) Though I do wear a Cheap N Nasty NHS Deaf Aid...

But not moaning, in-fact when Family noise gets too much(OR indeed any noisy situation) I just turn the Deaf Aid off and it's Bliss!

EDIT: I have no problems growing the stuff, its just all these added bits of equipmen(and hanging the Kit in the Air)t and expenses....

When using a standard air cooled hood I would set it up as so...

Intake air > carbon filter > fan > a/c hood > ducting > outside.

The reasin being that standard a/c hoods aren't 100% sealed most of the time and if you were to suck air over the light rather than blowing,you run the risk if sucking unfiltered odiferous air through the leaks in the hood.By blowing air over the bulb you create a positive pressure in the hood and any air will leak out of the hood leaks and be filtered again.

Cooltubes for the most part are pretty well sealed so either way will work.

Cheers Ou8aCracker2, I'm quite happy with the Cool-Tube..though setting it up the best way is still not happening for me..YET! just reconfigured the Ducting and I'am venting back into the GR @ the minute..with the Ducting hanging down(After the Fan) in front of an BIG oscillating fan had to do this because the damn thing is making the GR too COLD now?? I Think once I get a smaller(m3/h) 6" Fan just for the COOl-TUBE(say 180~200m3/h instead of 552m3/h) things will start to come together and then the BIG ASS FAN can be setup with Carbon Filter and reconnected to Thermostat just to cool the GR, and the COOL-TUBE will be connected to the smaller Fan(but on all time)

Think I've seen another Grower do this(Baked,shit memory) But what about a Duct run exhausting from COOL-TUBE..but instead of noisy Fan what about having a oscillating fan firing at the back of the COOL-TUBE and this Exhausting from Ducting...If you know what I mean...would it be enough?? wanna try it but a bit unsure...

Anybody Run a 600w Hps in a 6"(150mm) without a Fan and just Exhaust out of the GR??

Also has anybody tried having just a(say) 6" oscillating Fan Pointed right at the Rear of the COOL-TUBE(maybe 1" away from , but same height) and firing the Cold-ish(GR) Air down the COOL-TUBE and Exhausting(from Ducting) outta the GR??

Don't know it this makes any sense...does in My head, but that's a different matter...esp where Reality is concerned....
