So I had this seed having bad luck with it, 10 days nothing it only swollen with a weird tumor on it, and looked this morning, nothing, was ready to squash it, left it, now it's night time and I look at it, there is a crack between where the 2 shells form, but inside it it's completely black (usually you can see the white sprout poking through, do dud seeds that stay in water too long and naturally go soft crack the same way? is there a chance for it?

10 days and no sprout means a bad seed.

i've never seen a seed take that long to sprout. AT MOST 4 days and that's just tossing it in the soil and watering it.

Well it's more like 8 but it has cracked like a normal seed, no sign of rotting or anything, and no sprout.

It's dead. stop messing and looking at all your seeds. I went through the same phase as you and I've learned. less is more. always.

take a coffee mug. fill it with 1 part hydrogen peroxide, 4 parts water. Put your seed(s) in the water and poke them ONCE OR TWICE with your CLEAN finger. Cover with something that's going to stop light from getting in. Keep it in a dark are that will stay not cold. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT for 24 hours. once that time has passed, check it. give them a poke. The ones that sink, or already have sunk- PLANT THEM (i prefer putting them into rapid rooters that are NOT soaked. but slightly moist) into your medium. Keep a weak light on it, keep the temps warm and HUMID. NOT WET. and just leave them. put a limit on how often you check them. I only let myself check them when i misted the inside of my dome 2 times a day.

Just to make sure I didn't kill it I just ripped off the shell, it wasn't an empty seed and has the sprout structure but just not unrolled because it curls itself into a ball before being germinated, the seed was cracked in half abit but still black inside, and my other 2 seeds just sprouted after 10 days, it really annoyed me so i opened it after 8-10 days
