WW Floodlights +

Hi Growers, haven't been on in a while. Good to see some 'familiar' stagers still about.
Been busy growing : )
My journey took me all over the place with lighting from HPS /hydro the last 3 grows have been LED only.

The custom Apollo 8 worked ok, tbh, maybe just by power alone it performed budwise as well as the A-51. But I sold it on more of concern for its lifespan... which is kinda ironic since the A51 blew a driver on the first run Lol..

I was interested in building some smaller lights around my a-51.

The most recent incarnation I have sg160 with two 50w warm floods either side .. in a row over two 12g totes. (ie pulling around 360watts)

I'll post up some pics of my auto garden (with blumats/ ROLS/ no heat... I kinda forget its there : ))

but I have an immediate question for the buffs.

Was thinking of adding mayb 2 BML 12" arrays between the floods with wide angle reflectors to add in reds.

Good idea? I was thinking mostly 625 /660 perhaps with a UV either end. Adding these arrays soon coming into flower.. Still good? I know the various broad opinions on lighting, any thoughts or options re balancing these (100watts of 3300k either side)??

Sounds like a good plan. Should just build something yourself. You could certainly find other diodes with better efficiency and cheaper than the BML.

SDS talks about 2700k [WW] always wanting more red i.e. 630.660 etc.

They work [BML] and contain good quality diodes, but

Thanks Abiqua,

I nearly started with a home build, thought I had it all worked out then read too much I think, got confused I guess : ?

The other option would be to see how they pull through or consider swapping the cheap chips and drivers in the floods to some multi-array or more efficient..
that I just know will lead to confusion unless someone said- swap to this driver, these LED's..

Then again, eventually swapping to a better quality warm white eventually may make some additional red lighting still very useful in flowering. (3300k in these floods, if that is even accurate) along with the red in the SG160 (what little bounces out that far) may even 'work' of sorts..

Any leads (anyone) on a site such as BMLed that would make a better building option (easy to understand) or even put something together?

Plus some floodlights for outside to make room for a few heatsinks and COBs-- dammit :fire:
I knew why I didn't come on here, catching up can be expensive! Better stop clogging up other builds.

*So I was looking at the arctic fan range and see they have a model with it's own temp probe.
The 92mm version : Arctic F9 TC
GA104212 AFACO-09PT0-GBA01

It looks to hold at low speed to 31c (85F?) -then peak power up to 38(c). I don't expect to reach 31c even in summer but if the fan is running slow anyhow I guess its a fail-safe, especially if running two fans bit more flexible than no dimming.. This would run with a constant voltage (not dimmable) driver?

*Also noticed this profile heatsink:

http://www.heatsinkusa.com/4-600-wide-extruded-aluminum-heatsink/ has a similar cooling rate to the other heavy (narrow) one others have used in blocks.. ( http://www.heatsinkusa.com/3-945/ ) (those we'd discussed recently)- bit of a dark art working out the surface area of such a profile (to me), did see this comment:

Thanks Pos. Those sites have crossed my path time to time, steves is a new one.
So iv'e ordered a few things, it's not easy with freight as some things just aren't worth buying by half measure.
I grabbed a couple of 3070's and some heatsink and bits all in all a good experience.

I'm completely fucked off with Newark though.
No wonder they don't give a freight quote till after they have a credit card:

$38 for a few ounces WTF!! Ripped off, clear as day.
Iv'e let them know what I think. I'll can the transaction if at all possible.
Not that they'll care but that's the last time i'll be buying from there!

Is freight $12 or $38, it just seems that $38 is with your purchase included?

$62.12 total USPS. I am a long way away but c'mon...
I buy stuff from your great country daily.. the heatsinks were a relative bargain... and I knew the cost before they posted them..
Would normally use a forwarder if the shipping is a killer but then most companies seem to be ok..
