Yellow mushrooms

For the past month, one of my potted plants in soil has been "acquiring" yellow mushrooms. In fact, I imagine a few spores were released either from the plant or the air and they created a few mushrooms. Then I've been pulling them out and probably spreading them a tiny bit, so I haven't been able to totally get rid of them.

My local grow guy said they're harmless and to simply keep pulling them out. I'm cool with that, but can anyone give me more info on yellow mushrooms? I'll try to post a pic, in case that might help. Thx.

Know it's an old topic but for anyone who happens to search for this the mushroom in that soil is called Leucocoprinus birnbaumii also known as the flowerpot parasol because it's caps are bright yellow parasol-shaped and it is the most common type of mushrooms found in household plants.

It is not harmful to the plant as mold is, it feeds on decaying dead organic matter only. However the yellow pigment is caused by a very toxic group of alkaloids called birnbaumins. So please do not ingest, it will not make you trip.

Shrooms are not harmful...in fact they are very beneficial to the plant and make more nuts available to the plant...I could go in depth...but not going there.
