i am having the same prob with my girl, she is steadily getting yellow leaves but i wrote a thread n they told me that its a normal part of flowering but i feel its too early for them to yellow that fast.. maybe try adding some xtra nitro thats what i did n it helped alittle..gl

plants use phosphorus during flowering not nitrogen ........you could be giving the wrong nutes.........how long have you been flowering

This is actually Very common When Flowering the Bottom of the plant will start to turn yellow. I looked at the Pic of your plants and they look pretty health. But something I did notice is your pots seem a bit small and this could be turning the leafs yellow also. It happens when the Roots run out of Room to grow. And You might Just be running Out of room As its flowing thats all. Its your choice If your willing to try to repot it during its current phase or just leave it. It might cause it to grow slower tho for a couple days. But If your not to far into budding It could really help your plants.

I have also noticed that your medium looks barky. What is the compost you are using? And yes, do not use nitro. phos? Water? Could be too much or not enough. They will turn yellow on both causes. Do you have a good all around 20 20 20 fertilizer? I found that buying an air pump with two little rock stones and adding them in the soil so the roots get more oxygen can help out with this. For the experienced growers when the plant begins its flowering stage switch from the 20 20 20 to 0 15 40. you can find this at most agricultural stores.

first off thanks for all of the help to everyone who replied, and im going to try to answer all the questions so you can help me diagnose this further. I have flowering now for about 3 weeks. i water that plant when the soil dries out in the first couple inches with distilled water. temp maintains around 75-80 F. I am using just regular store bought soil, miracle grow brand i believe. I was trying to do the grow without fertilizers just because when i began using them they cause a lot of problems with my plant, and once i stopped using them the plant continued to grow just fine.

Ok - first off, three weeks into flower is too early for this plant to be showing *that* many yellow leaves. The miracle grow soil has likely run out of nutes, and the plant WANTS ferts. I know you mentioned you had issues with that early on in the grow, but try using the nutes at a greatly reduced strength and see how your girl fares. Go with the flowering nutes, but she should probably get a little N as well.

BTW - that's not an autoflower strain, is it?

Anyway - if you don't have a digital PH meter, I would REALLY recommend investing in one. This seems to be a common new grower's mistake, and the meter will be worth it's weight in gold. In soil grows, your water PH should be around 6.5 - you would be surprised how quickly improper PH can cause a grow to go down-hill fast.

Also, the way you check for water needs could be an issue. The dirt could be dry as a bone the first few inches, and a mucky mess at the bottom (trust me on this). Either invest in a moisture meter OR learn the weight of the pot when soil is dry and also when totally saturated (my personal choice). When the pot feels light - water. When it feels heavy - don't.

Your temps are in a great range, so I wouldn't worry about that.

I just checked back and from what I have read the last post should just about sum it up for you. I believe that the girl is malnourished. Try adding just some all around 20 20 20 fert or if you can find the 0 15 40 that would be perfect. Dont forget if you mix fert in jugs keep in dry cool dark place (the ph lvl can increase drastically, being very harmful to your girl) Break down and buy yourself a ph meter if you dont have one and test the water you have been giving it. nothing below 5.5 and nothing higher than 7 should be used.

thanks yea, i figured it was yellowing too rapidly. As for the water i do also go by the weight of the pot, in the early veg stage i had some issues with water but im pretty sure im good with that now. But i def do need to invest in a PH meter, ive looked for some time now actually and have had some trouble finding one. all i can find is one time use to check the PH. Ive gone to Home depot and lowes garden centers and neither seem to carry a ph meter. im gona try giving her some nutes again and take ur advice and use a small amount. nutes are definitely one thing i have limited knowledge of, and the numbers on the front always confuse me, like the 10 10 10. Im not with my plants now so dont know the exact number of my nutes bottle, but will post that later, anyways my question is is there a bad ratio that i should not be using for my plants.

oh and also it is not an autoflower as far as my knowledge. And also i dont know if this changes any thing but it has been 4 weeks not 3, time goes by so quick.

Yellowing leaves is a sign of nitrogen deficiency. If the plants dont use it during flowering then how can the leaves be turning yellow? Hmm...

If the plant doesn't have nitrogen its not going to be able to photosynthesize efficiently, which seems like a bad idea right?

So ive always had a couple yellowing fan leaves every week or so. but recently the majority of the lower part of my plant has a had yellow leaves and now it is spreading more rapidly. please help me figure this out. I am in flower right now and the new growth has still been green.
OP, get some fertilizer that has some nitrogen, but not alot. Ill be using Fox Farms Tiger Bloom for my grow and its 2-8-4. How long do you plan on flowering your plant for? If its 8 weeks it may not be worth investing in some nitrogen right now if you do a two week flush. If its 10 or 12 weeks of flowering, Id get some nitrogen in there.

All fertilizers have three numbers on the label which indicate the fertilizer analysis, or "percentage by weight" of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, in that order. During the veg stage it is good to have an all around 20 20 20, so 20% nitrogen, 20% phosphorus, and 20% potassium. During flowering stage there will be enough nitro left over to suffice during this stage so you switch over to 0% nitro 15%phos and 40% potassium. There have been extensive studies on this and the conclusion is with this ratio you should expect to see higher yields and an increase in growth rate. As for the ph meter... Ebay it up my friend. I purchased two kinds on there for under $8 with free shipping straight from tokyo, one that goes in soil and the other that reads liquid. I would take this round of growing as a lesson and apply it for the next satisfaction. Do not be to worried if there are leaves curling (some, not alot, is normal for an aged plant) As far as the other leaves yellowing, you definitely should be able to save her from this point in her life. Good luck my friend and happy yields!

thanks everyone for the help appreciate it. this is my first grow ever and i used some cheap bag seeds, but it has been a great learning experience
