Yellowing of leaves, what could this be?!

Hi this is my first post and first time growing,
I'm growing 2 plants which have started yellowing and drooping slightly, I've posted pics bellow, im currently useing a 125w blue cfl for light and I think they are in 3l pots which I plan to replace with larger ones soon. They have both been grown useing feminized UK Cheese seeds, any help in determining the problem would be greatly appreciated. For just under 2 weeks nowt I have been useing Mirrical grow for nutes, this has been used with water from bottled water with 6.8 chlorine content. I have been vegging for about 5 weeks now in bio-bizz allmix soil. Also a fan is perminently on within the grow closet.

Did you accidentally pour the fertilzed water on those leaves when they were younger and nearer to the soil ? Hopefully a veteran will post.

What's the NPK for your "mirrical grow" nutes? pH of the soil? Looks like a N deficiency to me...I am new to growing, but have done my fair share of reading.

miracle grow ferts drop ph drastically u need to check ur ph after your solution is made u may be lockin out your something

I was wondering whether it was a Nitrogen deficiency, but then what could the cause of the drooping be? On the Miracle grow bottle it says NPK is 6-5-5....As I said before I started adding this about two weeks ago but stopped once I saw the yellow tips, I have been using only water within the last week.

unfortunetly I dont know what my soil ph is, ive got a meter being sent on the way though so i'll check the soil ph when i get that (3 days or so). The bottled water i use has a ph of 7.2, although i acknowledge that this could be very different story in the soil itself

so are you saying that i'm not getting enough potassium in my mg? also one thing i just noticed was that once i added my ferts to the water the ph went from >7.2 to <6.4-8 , is this enough to lock out the nutes? (used with aquarium test strips)

before i mixed my water its about 8.6 and after about 5.2 so its a huge change

oh remember u feed like every 7 days to often and u burn

i play in soil and found depending on what kind of soil u use runnin a ph of 5.8 to 6.2 seems to make plants strive from clones thru veg

this may sound noobish, but is that with all nutes or just miracle grow? Also do you do anything to correct the ph after your water has been mixed?

with mg other nutes can be used every feeding or everyother but the mg website says once every 7 days i add backing soda to raise my ph back up to where it needs to be

thanks superbub, looks like over the period of a week I must have been using mg and that will have caused it to burn! Will grab some baking soda today to correct my ph. However what could be causing the droopyness of both plants, we water only when the soil is dry and get rid of any run off??

Definitely looks like my plants did when they had a N defeciency. Up the N, trim the dead leaves.

In hydroponics, yellowing in lower older leaves means its nitrogen (nutrient) deficiency, yellowing of the higher newer leaves would be nutrient burn. Drooping is a common sign of over watering (which also happens in hydroponics, but is more commly connected to the lack of air circulating through the water solution). What you should do is increase the nutrients and wait a bit longer between waterings. I've never grown in soil but the problems are all the same when it comes to the plants, and solutions are the same for the most part too.

good point but if your ph isnt right wouldnt adding more nutes destabalize your soil and cause lockout so dispite what ever u do nothing will help until your ph is in the proper range
i would suggest a good flushing with ph balanced water about 6.5 (remember 3 times the amount the size of your pot or untill the run off is almost clear )give 1/4 strength nutes and take it from there any input is welcome we all learn here

Hi guys,

just an update, I've cut the dead leaves off and transferred the plants into larger pots. Do you think they are large enough to leave in for flowering? Also I have tested my tap water and it came out as 6.4 in ph, would I get away with flushing this one time with the tap water and use bottled water there after? Also I have some water safe (the kind used in aquariums), would it be worth me adding some to the tap water? I figure its probably best to leave the plants to settle into their new pots for a few day before I begin adding any more mg.
