yet another "how long to go" thread...

allrighty and feeling tighty

first things first. you have to decide between in or out, properly. this plant we love to grow don't do things half assed. the plastic has got to go if you plan on doing a greenhouse.

i've walk amongst giants in a natural mountain meadow grow and guess what?

nobody was feeding them. the soil was just right so it didn't need man to come in a hurry her up with all the poison for fast growth,,,,,

back on track,

if you stay in soil we need to work on that. sit back and think tomatoes. get a bag of good soil and start there. the plant won't produce much if it's crowded.
give em' room one plant per bucket or grow site. properly done one of your plants should have produced a rootball as big as that container. one plant.

when i first started growing outdoors we did not have a local hydro store to go to. we had a feed store, shit you not. so the nutrient available were strictly farm and garden crop variety. but i'm going to pass a secret to you and all those that read this and grow in soil. taught to me by my dear irish mother (rest her soul),,

Do you have a B.B. Gun or a pellet rifle? Know any mean kids with slingshots?
pass much roadkill where you drive?

talk about yer organics.

on my 5th birthday my mom gave me a red ryder bb gun and spent a day teaching me and showing me how it worked. well sir, i'll tell you what. my sweet and loving mother had the aim of annie oakley and a hate for all birds and critters raiding her amazing garden. mom had a pump up crossman and could kill a garden raider from 75 ft out the bathroom window.

she then sat me down and asked me if i had a nickel. me? a nickel? crap i'm 5 and gaurd my piggy like kirstie guards the krispy's, know what i mean? well mom says i need a license to hunt and i'd better get used to paying for it cause it would only cost more later in life and i could look back and say 'i paid a nickel for my first hunting license'. i reluctantly gave up my nickel, put my name on it and off we went to the back yard. she told me what i could and could not shoot.
birds, rabbit, tree rats gophers and mice. Neighbors pets and the neighbors were off limits, (limits which would later be broken) as were cars, bikes and airplanes, again, sorry mom, i had orders.
how i ever had fun as a kid i'll never know:evil:

my mother would bury the dead animals, except the rabbit (still love that stew) in her garden and her garden ROCKED every veggie you could think of. Corn 14 ft high, my gawd this woman was as green as a shamrock! She had horticulturists and botanists come and spend time in her garden. she made some darn good scratch selling flowers, bulbs, fruits and veggies. hell i never had a vitamin from a bottle back then or now.

so thats my secret for outdoor growing. i've raised some monsters using this method. 17ft sativas and 13 ft indicas with 9ft of girth.

now if your planning on using soil inside with no lights then i'm not yer man.

if you want to do a dwc inside well then by golly speak up pilgrim! i know a lil' bit about that subject and learn a bit more every dang ol day. seeing as i'm retired,
or as Red likes to say, 'he's got nothing but time my boomerb, but that plant raisin has given him ocd'. i could rock yer lil' tasmanian tail off with a grow set up for you. But like that wise ol guy that played a shaolin monk told me one wet and drizzly day, 'boomerb, says he to me, all good things take time. time and love boomerb, and stay the fuck out of the closet b'. youch, i'll stick with that piece o wisdom, yes sir.

up to you, monsters outside, or long limbed and spread out like an all you can eat buffet inside in a scrog,,,,,

you tell me pilgrim,,,,,,

yeah, yeah, i know,
ol' boomerb has lots
to blow, just hoping it
hits yer ears and,
not yer toes.

wow are all those pics of you plants?

well ive been thinking about it, and talking bout it with my dad over the past few days about what to do next year, as we are just going to stick with outdoor grows... and we've chosen an outdoor area thats surrounded by thick bush that stands about 4-5ft tall and recieves direct sunlight all day long. i am hoping to go completely organic with my plants, and have started turning over the compost pile now so by october (planting time) we'll have a good soil base... and you advice works out well for me, as we have quite a big block of land, and my brother is an awesome shot with his compound bow, and dads air rifle. so il be sure to add his next victims to the soil. the compost pile recieves everything from fruit and vegie scraps, to egg shells, to garden and lawn clippings.

would you recommend that the animal matter be added to the compost pile? or just to the soil just before planting?

another thing i have heard a bit about and was considering trying is fish... as my father loves his fishing and diving we have copious amounts of fish frames/guts etc... would you recommend that theyre used in a similar way?

haha thats awesome about your mother, she sounds like she was quite the sniper :-)

thanks for the advice

cheers, dirty1.

please don't get me started on pictures,,, i have thousands of them and yes they are all my plants

plant the critters in the soil. and when you prep your grow area turn that soil down about two feet to loosen it up and de gas it,,,,

fish are excellent, just bury them at least three ft down. if you can stand the stench, let the fish get ripe before you bury it.,,,,,

yeah, mom had an eye but the old man was a huge danish prick and he could make a weapon sing a sonata. damn he was good with guns.....

now we have to learn some indian skills if yer gonna be outside. you know anything about snares and trip wires? i can pm a great set up for security on the outside grow.

i gotta start thinking in southern hemi mode, October planting,,,,, cool beans.

plant eaters in yer area? if so what size, how big? line of sight from the house to the grow or is it blind?

let me know, boomerb'll get ya a front row seat to the next show,,,,,

boomerb is going global,
c'mon take a trip with b,
he'll show you things within,
the tree,,,,,,,,,,

awesome thanks for that.

umm the area id semi visible from the house, but not visible enough to see any critters down there.

you were spot on with the southern hemi, im in tasmania, australias most southern state :-)

as far as critters go we only have a few rabbits, but also alot of wallabies, which stand near a meter tall and are rather stocky... i was thinking just some simple star pickets and chicken wire to protect the plants from them, as my other plant just has a tube of chicken wire around it, and although its leaves hang out the sides nothing has touched it in the past 13 weeks.

as far as snares and traps go my knowledge is rather limited... the only snare i know how to make is one for catching rabbits as they come out their burrows.

thanks for this advice, its a great help :-)

cheers, steve.

i went in to check the girls this morning, and found one of the lowermost branches broken off (damn animals)... so naturally, i quick dried the bud on it in the oven, with the fan on full and at about 60 degrees celsius... although it was a little harsh due to the quick dry i was pleasantly suprised at how potent it already is... although this is my 1st grow ive been smoking at least 2-3 times a week for the past 3 yrs or so, and have smoked my fair share of good weed... although this wasnt quite up there with the best, it was far better than i expected. which leads me to the question, do u guys have a rough idea on how long the girls look like they have left? im figuring 2-3 more weeks...
